Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 I like that we have a Diamond...as well as a guy named Gold that we just drafted.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 If he's just going to be a LH out of the BP, why not Wade LeBlanc instead? 8.3 K/9, 2.2 BB/9, 2.72 FIP, 1.67 ERA, in 75 IP
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 If he's just going to be a LH out of the BP, why not Wade LeBlanc instead? 8.3 K/9, 2.2 BB/9, 2.72 FIP, 1.67 ERA, in 75 IP Innings-eater if need be. Last three series were total resource hogs. Pen is gassed.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Innings-eater if need be. Last three series were total resource hogs. Pen is gassed. Not buying the Pen is Gassed theory here, maybe certain arms but not all of them. We have played more games and sit second last in the majors in innings pitched in relief! Even over the month of June or last 11 games we have only pitched 29 innings! Is under use causing some of the pens problems to consistency and overall effectiveness? 7,8,9 to the pen also gets our starters some rest if adhered and stuck too! Even in Osauna's case pitching every second day he would have pitch 5-6 innings and what is he at 5.1 so it overuse or how they have been used? If a pen is asked to pitch 3 we have under used our pen by 29 innings this year, and by almost a inning per game by innings pitched by the top 3 teams in the league. So is it overuse, underuse or how they have been used? Discuss? Thanks, BBBB

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Three years since he's last pitched in the bigs. Credit to Diamond for not giving up!

Biagini has hit a brick wall, Chavez has thrown a lot of pitches as our inning eater, Osuna is 21yr old overused closer who's clearly gassed. Venditte is s*** and Loup is good for an out. Grilli & Storen are really our late inning guys right now and when, or if our next starting pitcher can't go 6 we're in trouble, unless you trust Floyd. Assuming Morales is done and goes on the long term DL it opens a spot on the 40 man, then option Venditte.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Please god don't be comi up to replace Osuna who is experiencing right arm soreness!
CHRIS Verified Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Loup is good for an out. Chris Davis disagrees.

Thanks, BBBB Okay, so are you going to tell the bullpen who has just had to endure six straight high stakes series against terrifying lineups that they're not actually tired because they've thrown fewer innings than everyone else? I'll take the manager's and trainers' word on this, if you don't mind. Assuming Morales is done I'm expecting literally nothing from Morales. Dude hit a gold mine to throw, like, one inning all year. Haven't even heard about him doing baseball activities. Not even the Jays' beat writers seem interested in the issue.

The Same managers and Trainers that most want fired and don't believe most Days on here! Lol So Quality of line ups vs actual innings and pitches thrown makes a team more tired and taxed? Wtf The only thing I will concede is yes we have played more games but the top five relievers by saves are being used more or less the same as Ousana! And our overall usage of the pen is less then the top Five teams in usage! So like I said is over usage or rather how they have been used? No one can say Osuana needed to pitch some of the innings he has pitched or when he has been used. Game Day Threads will support this based on comments made in them!

But no one is being overused when compared to what other pens innings vs games have overall been asked to pitch? Check it out now!!!!
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Okay well whether or not you agree with previous usage doesn't change that the guys might be gassed now. Osuna's gotten a lot of work, Chavez was a starter last year with a much different schedule, Floyd was dead for two years, Loup just got back, Biagini is on a weird schedule, Grilli has thrown several intense outings in the last few days, Venditte threw two innings yesterday. Yeah, gassed. Bring up a fresh arm for a potential mop-up situation. I don't understand the objection. If the professional trainers think most of the guys are gassed, then they're probably gassed. Most fans who think the trainers and managers should be fired are borderline delusional anyway, so their criticisms don't mean anything. Not really sure what point you're trying to make with that. Also, if you're going to quote innings pitched, what about batters faced or pitches thrown? You think the innings against the Orioles were three-batter cakewalks?

But no one is being overused when compared to what other pens innings vs games have overall been asked to pitch? Check it out now!!!! We can go a week with using 3 pen guys and then a week using every arm 3x over. We're inconsistent. Our SP goes deep overall but it's a week to week thing and right now our most trusted arms are gassed. We only have a few of those to choose from my friend.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Innings-eater if need be. Last three series were total resource hogs. Pen is gassed. Just pitch to contact more and eat innings mmmkay?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 Would of been nice if Venditte could of got through the 8th and not have to use Grilli. I imagine he is unavailable tonight. Storen should be fresh, Osunas arm was tender so who knows about him. Not that they are a walk over but good thing we are playing the phillies might be able to get rested up.

Gave three options as to what I wrote and you jumped all over the one and ignored the other Two!!! Underused, overused or Misused! Sorry my Friend but I don't buy that the whole pen has been taxed and all are being abused compared to any or what or how other pens are being used is all overall.

Are they all taxed out too then? Relief innings by last four series, Nyy 6 Tor 5.2 Bos 9.1 Tor 5.2 Det 12 Tor 7.2 Bal 16.1 Tor 13.2 Total them 43.1 vs Us 31.2 So there is that to chew on!!!

Who cares if it's underused, overused or misused, the point is our trusted arms are not available and we need support. It's part Gibby and part our SP that has caused it right now but swapping scrubs is not a big deal dude, it's done with every team every month.

Governator Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2016 Posted June 13, 2016 How is it the Starting pitchers Fault? Wtf I said partially their fault. Stro and Sanchez went 5 innings this series, Estrada 6. That taxes the BP abit... Heck Happ barely survived the 4th inning, after something like homer/double/homer/double. Had he not, they'd be in a heap of trouble. What exactly are you defending here? That our BP is not gassed and they are just being overly protected?

Let's have Osuna pitch tonight. Floyd too. Grilli too. Chavez too. Loup too. Venditte too. I wonder if these wimps know about the stats and realize they shouldn't be gassed. Maybe we can finger paint some eyeballs onto their shoulders so their arms can have a look at the IP numbers and make the muscle fatigue and dead arm vanish.

By a mile too--2nd fewest innings by a contending team for their starters (340 IP--only Kansas City is worse). Worse, the O's pen is going to get even more overused, as they have games to make up with the Rangers and Rays next week, along with their games with the Red Sox and Jays coming up.
