FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Nobody said Shapiro directly but there are other employees that work there. Don't be so jealous like you were with MLB 16 The Show Ya, pre ordering a video game and lying about a source. Colour me jealous kid.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Tim Anderson + 1-2 high ceiling low-minors guys would be a better return than the comp pick. Anderson could be ready to step in next year. Where do you put him? I suppose you just acquire the best asset you can get and work it out later.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I could see Gibby being fired and Hale being promoted to manager for the remainder of the season. I'd like Bud Black myself but who knows what's going to happen. The longer this season goes on my disdain for AA grows and grows. How someone started off so strongly as a GM gaming the comp system, getting a tonne of solid draft picks and then turning into Amaro Jr blows my mind.

Not an obvious fit right now with his likely future position being CF or SS, but in a situation where Bautista is moved at the deadline, Tulo might not be long for this team. You'd probably trade Pillar too, as a 27-year old 90 wRC+ CF who gets all his value from his legs isn't really a long-term building block.

Now I don't think he gets a David Price package but he should get a great haul.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 This is hilarious. Coming up with trades for every single player on the team when our playoff odds stand at 26%. That said, if we s*** the bed against the 10-29 Twins I'll join in.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Wait, the Twins are 10-29? For some reason I had no idea it was that bad. That's hilarious. Yeah they are pathetic. -67 RD. The Twins are either the remedy for what ails us or they are the "abort signal" on what's likely to become a very long season.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 bah god Braves are -68 and the Reds are -72. Some really s***** teams this year.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 People dont understand how terribly imbalanced this team is, and this in part has led to issues itself. Honestly if Seattle made a good offer for EE, I would trade him in a heart beat for a prospect. EE isn't going to dictate whether or not we climb back into the race here. Its going to be Tulo, Martin, Travis's return and so on. EE is struggling big time, plus a free agent to boot. At this point he would be left accepting a qualifying offer from us. He has barely been above average, and for a DH that is not good enough. We can easily place Bautista in that role half the time, get him off the field, bring in Travis to DH some times as he heals and becomes a regular again and so on... I would even move Dickey if I got an offer.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I would even move Dickey if I got an offer. I think we should resign Dickey. Offer him 7 million right now and see if he accepts. Just get a better backup C than Thole.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 If the Jays resign Dickey, I'm quitting this board. He's annoying as f*** to watch pitch but the guy is a very legit backend SP. Hell, forget 7 mil let's lowball him. Offer him Like 5 mil with an option/buyout.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 He can be someone else's pet project. He's not a pet project. The guy is as consistent as they come. If the Jays try to retool I'd resign him and put him in the rotation again. Then hope Sanchez continues to have a big year and deal him for a cheap controllable position player. Something like that could work well for us.

We'd probably screw up first pick anyways.

But he's not a bad pitcher. He's an excellent #5 SP.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 So when Travis is eventually activated it has to be Goins going to AAA right?

The Twins are either the remedy for what ails us or they are the "abort signal" on what's likely to become a very long season. The Twins are always the remedy for the Jays. They've destroyed this team over the past decade, actually longer than that, but especially the past decade. Especially Bautista. It feels like every time he goes into Minnesota in a slump, he leaves at the start of a tear.

The cost of carrying Thole, arguably the worst 25th roster player in the league is enough to just go with Hutchison for 1/3rd the cost, have a legitimate back up catcher and skip the sideshow.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 So when Travis is eventually activated it has to be Goins going to AAA right? should be, I don't think Barney can be sent down
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 should be, I don't think Barney can be sent down yea Barney wouldn't pass waivers and I don't see a world where Shapiro would let Gibbons give any input on it.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Tulo might not be long for this team. I think you have to sit on that contract for a few years. He clearly doesn't enjoy being traded so he's going to value stability for the moment and it's not a great time to shop that contract anyways. If he's still about an average hitter and fielder, he'll be attractive to someone once the deal is shorter, especially if there's inflation.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Is Bautista a much better player than Zobrist? I don't really see it. Yeah I think he is and I think he has that name value where it would boost his trade return. Have to remember at the time Zobrist got traded he has a 122wRC+ and 0.8 WAR.
baloojayz Verified Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 While many feel like we got scammed in the Dickey trade, I disagree. That's just how prospect trades go. The Martin signing however...we basically got excited with his ability to draw walks and frame pitches?
