FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Hearing this morning if they fall flat on their faces in Minny there are possibilities of coaching changes. Also hearing they would rather bring in their own guy to handle the interim job rather than handing it off to one of AA's old guard. I'm assuming they will promote Eric Wedge and after the 2016 season he will go back to being an advisor to the team. Hearing this morning eh? Voices in your head don't count as sources I'm afraid. I'm hearing this morning that Gibby's job is safe and the management blames an offense that has s*** the bed.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Let's make a Deal !!! Firing the Coach will not change or save this team now from itself!!! To Seattle: Tulo EE Dickey Thole Think they have about 28-29 mil still owning on the books. Add 13-14 mill in salary relief up front And 4mill for the Duration of the Tulo deal. From Seattle: James Paxton Mike Zuino Mike Montgomery kraig sitton Adrian Sampson And one of either Chris Taylor or Drew Jackson Call it a day and move on, turn the page, next year country. The reinforcements or the Calvery ain't coming in this time to save our ass!!!

Firing the manager is the go to save face move in sports when a team is heavily under performing 2 months in to a season and it's too early for trade talks.

How about his trade: We trade Bautista to Seattle for nothing, other then the entertainment of watching him get to play against Texas in a Penant race.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 It's not just them. Our big 3 aren't shooting the lights out either. Saunders is the only regular exceeding expectations. Smoak is 50 points above his projected wOBA. I was going to say Pillar but he's regressed quite a bit since that brief moment when his numbers looked good. Below projections atm.

You are basically trading EE to them and look what you want back lol.

The reinforcements or the Calvery ain't coming in this time to save our ass!!! You're so dumb. You can't just make a random trade package and choose a random team. You have to look at what the team needs and think about if they would actually WANT those players. How does Edwin fit on the Mariners? They already have Cruz and Lind and 1B/DH. And Tulo and Dickey don't have much value right now either
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Do the White Sox have room for him? Maybe the Cubs... I could see Bautista traded to the White Sox
Governator Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 Mariners could use EE actually, even though Cruz is pretty much the semi-perm DH, Adam Lind has sucked monkey balls and needs replacing. Edwin would be an upgrade there and can still spend time at DH.

BlueJayWay Verified Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 2014 says different. The 2014 team was 13-17 in early May before they started going on a run. http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/TOR/2014-schedule-scores.shtml

Possibly, but for someone to come on here and say they are 'hearing' it is comical. We can all look and make assumptions. Shapiro may fire Gibby, but he certainly isn't talking about it to a forum member here.

Don't be so jealous like you were with MLB 16 The Show

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 The body language and faces of the team in the 9th said it all last nite. In the throws of a 5 gm skid and a horrendous start. Starting an inning with 2 BBS and can't get a run across tells the tale of the season so far. Too early for dismantling talk imo. Hope springs eternal...but it's getting harder.

The Jays are going to need to go on one hell of a streak now if they are going to want to be in this. Baltimore and Red Sox are actually doing something this year where last year it was only the Yankees they had to pass. Unless we are going for the second wild card I'm not sure if its worth it. Trading players for some prospects to help with the loss of EE and JB next year would help the rebuilding process.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I really want Bud Black as our next manager if we can't have Terry Francona.

Even if the Jays get to the PS, I have serious doubts about how they stack up against the PS competition. Another month to go before decisions need to be made.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2016 Posted May 19, 2016 I could see Bautista traded to the White Sox Yeah, I was looking at the standings trying to determine which teams would have interest in Bautista, and the White Sox jumped out at me. They seem like a team that would pull an AA and go for short-term gratification, too. Whether they have the young talent that would help the Jays is another story.

If Bautista gets moved, Jays would be wise to get 3-4 talented guys in the lower levels (eg. recent international signings) as opposed to 1-2 in the upper levels.

Tim Anderson + 1-2 high ceiling low-minors guys would be a better return than the comp pick. Anderson could be ready to step in next year.
