We know he can and should be better. He is pitching to contact with a low K rate and ground balls all day chewing up IP like RA.

He is a very different pitcher from 2014, and now pounds the ball down and around the zone almost exclusively. BB/9 is up.

Still as cocky as ever, but the performance isn't really backing it up by any informed statistical measure.

Is he a #1 or #2 with the current approach? Does he need to change it and if so, does he have the stuff to do it?

Abslolutely -- he is a mediocre individual, no question -- not an ace at all.

He should be 5-0 given support he had. The little grounders will eventually find holes leading to games like we saw last night, and against Boston.

He has changed the course of the season and perhaps the course of history. If he was -strow show- we would be 12-9, Stro 5-0 and all would be OK

Instaead the sox and Os got it this year, we are mediocre, we will Philly starting in August, 5 years of hell, Shapiro gets fired, Jays hire dumb guys (it will always goes smart/dumb), dumb guys go for 7 year, screw up everything more, then in 2027 smart guys hired again, but it takes 5 to fix it.

Cuz there was no Stro-show we have entered Year 1 of 20 year drought.

It begins. Stroman name searching and liking tweets against Zaun. Arencibia 2.0

Ughh Stro just needs to pitch better. Watching his 2014 highlight videos is just depressing.

Nah, he has the same stuff, it's this teams decision to play to contact, he just needs to stop throwing the sink on 2 strike counts and mix in his slider and elevate the 4SF, move the eye levels a bit. Only then will we see a better Stroman.

Yeah. We know stroman has the stuff, just needs on utilize it better.

Sanchez on the other hand has the same great sinker, but doesn't have the mix of secondary stuff that stroman has to even mix in. Change cutter, slider.... he doesn't even have those pitches in his aresenal, just the curve which is decent and doesn't throw enough and 4 seam which he doesn't throw enough. He needs a reliable change and a one of the slider or cutter to be anything more than a mid to back end starter.

Pitching to strikeouts and the guy only allows 3 hits. I think with the results today, Stro has got the message :D.

Stro was dealing today. Better mix of pitches and location. Excellent job. We needed it.

And the scary thing is, his slider still isn't as sharp as it was back in 2014 when he was mixing in all of his pitches routinely.

When that happens, he'll really be dominant.

Dickey has fallen all the the way to 5th starter, from opening day starter a few years ago.

Gawd, i hate Dickey

Be better to have Hutch start in his place, Dickey is a buzz kill.

As long as Stro keeps mixing his pitches up I wouldn't expect any other result against the Rays line up. Hopefully he can repeat it against O's and Red Sox. Such a great keap forward for him.

I hope so. This is a Stro that I'd love to see against those lineups.

I never want to see another knuckleballer on this team ever again. A crapshoot pitcher, a million pass balls and a personal catcher, ya no thanks.

Even his best start this season was barely a quality one. He's such a chore to watch.

And of course we traded a Cy Young candidate to get the box of bolts.
