I am looking forward to seeing Drew Hutchison pitch. The lineup looks good for a win if Hutchison has a half decent outing.

I hope that Carrera will have another good day.

It is good to see Goins getting some time off - it might even be good to give him a couple of days off.

Good call on the lineup, but Carrera leading off is egregious. In defiance of all statistical info Gibby gives Pillar the lead off spot out of ST and now won't even let him spot start when the situation calls for it.

I'm at the game today. My first since ALCS Game 3. The team was 3-0 last year when I was in attendance.

Vamos a romperles el culo a esos malditos Atléticos.

We are going to kick the ass of those damned Athletics.

Is this the right translation? I agree with the sentiment.

Fair point. I've argued before that there _could_ be a hypothetical "comfort" factor at work here.

If a guy is more comfortable in a certain spot, he will hit better there and this will make up for non-optimal lineup construction.

Obviously Gaston and Gibbons believe in this... but is it true??

Like if you led off Bautista does he hit exactly the same?? If so then he should be lead off. Since he is not lead off.

1. The Jays don't believe he will hit exactly the same.

2. They believe he could but he will be grouchy and he won't

3. They beieve he could and he will but he will be grouchy anyway so it's not worth it.

I think any answer come back to this. The Jays believe there are some intigible benefit to non-optimal line up construction. Or else they'd just fire Gibbons right, and put in a guy who will optimize the lineup.

Then firing Gibbons of course might still cause a bit of bad will, which might have an intagible negative effect, so don't fire Gibbons, it goes around in circles.

Gibby: "He did a lot of good things for us last year".

And now...yesterday. When Gibby thinks of Zeke, all he will remember is April 23rd, no matter how many other brutal things he does.

We are stuck with him, unless the GM makes something change.

Dude, I just went to get the bobble head and leave since I had to work, I got there early and when I left at 11:05am the line stretched North on Spadina to Front lol.

I haven't missed one in about 7 years so I kind of enjoy them too much I guess. It is a gongshow the past 2 years now, remember the good old days of walking in at 12:55pm and getting a bobble head? Some lady yelled at me when I walked back to work 3 minutes after the gates opened because she said "Those bobble heads are for my kids!" I just laughed and said "You snooze you lose homie" she was about 1500 people deep in the line as I was leaving.

Ugh. Thole replaces Martin last minute. Sucks since its vs a Lefty.

Martin has been hitting like hot garbage all month, defensively you lose out on Thole but with the bat as of right now, not much of a change with Thole's wack ass swing.

Dammit Bluejays. Do they not know how much this is going to effect the quality of my GDT.

martin til 2019? sigh

been in playoffs 8 out of 10 years. His catching is alone worth 5-7 WAR independent of his actual bat. The Catcher is the most important position on the field, because that is the person who touches the ball most often.

Yeah, that's right!!

Anyone is better than Thole. How he is still a major league catcher is beyond me, other than as a personal caddy for Dickey.

It's not just that he can't hit or defend that's so upsetting, it's the fact that he takes up a spot on the bench that we desperately need for options late on in games.

Now I've dumped all over him he'll go 4-4 like Carerra.

Vs a LHP though. This is the exact kind of pitcher it'd be nice for Martin to see to try to get him back on track. The lineup *should* still be able to mash today considering 2-7
