BTS Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Why did Gibby use Osuna with a 4-run lead in a clean inning yesterday if it meant he wouldn't be available in a tight game today?

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Gibby's stupidity is why but I'm sure Osuna will be tip top next game, he's a gamer with a short memory. Gibby doesn't want to overwork his young pitcher the first 2 weeks into the season.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Why did Gibby use Osuna with a 4-run lead in a clean inning yesterday if it meant he wouldn't be available in a tight game today? He was warmed up already since the Jays didn't score all those add on on runs until late in the 8th. Since he was warm he probably just decided to use him instead of get someone else warm.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 does it make sense to use him in a 5-1 game? it wasn't a save opportunity. Why did Gibby use Osuna with a 4-run lead in a clean inning yesterday if it meant he wouldn't be available in a tight game today? There is very little functional difference between a 4 run lead and a 3 run lead. Teams should use their best relievers. There was no way of knowing that today's game would present a save opportunity. Save opportunity bullpen management is stupid anyway. I don't think it matters. Storen yesterday and Osuna today - what would the difference be?

But that said, it seems like our key relievers have been unavailable numerous times already when needed. Gibby needs to pick it up.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Gibby doesn't want to overwork his young pitcher the first 2 weeks into the season. Unlike the other team--who are running Kimbrel and Uehara (and Tazawa) to the ground already, since Carson Smith is still a little ways away..

Laika Community Moderator Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Storen is garbage He isn't as good as I thought he would be. Is the stuff worse for some reason?

youngtea Verified Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Gibby will be a genius or idiot depending on how Storen finishes this game.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Storen's slider has a lot of late movement. Really impressive pitch.

Storen yesterday and Osuna today - what would the difference be? fair enough. I'm just pissed because I have Osuna and need the saves! lol
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 For sure just such a dumb move putting him in unnecessarily yesterday in the first place. It was a save situation until we scored a tack on run in the 9th. Gibby had him warmed up anyway so he put him in.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Throw strikes Store. 3-run lead
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 He isn't as good as I thought he would be. Is the stuff worse for some reason? fastball velocity is down.

What's better, winning a game 5-1 and losing the next game 4-3, or winning a game 5-3 and winning the next game 3-2.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 He isn't as good as I thought he would be. Is the stuff worse for some reason? You're garbage Hanging secondary stuff pitches, 92 hitable fastball and missing the spot
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 No1 throwing???? it's his game to lose
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 For sure just such a dumb move putting him in unnecessarily yesterday in the first place. But he was already warmed up so in a way he was already wasted if you didn't use him.
