intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 You mean the starters have generally been covering more than their fair share. I'm actually pretty optimistic. If the rotation can stay decent and the offense outside of the big three remember how to hit the Jays can go on another one of their patented 11 game win streaks soon enough. Agreed. This doesn't smell like some tailspin. It's a sluggish 5-6 start with a lot of bad bounces along the way. Some ugly performances, but no reason to read into it any more than you would for other 11 game samples.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Montero below 20% K. Pompey con wait, he will be our CF next year. Is Pompey's defence good enough for CF? Hell, he won't play over Pillar..
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Is Pompey's defence good enough for CF? Hell, he won't play over Pillar.. Pillar won't make it to the Allstar break the way he is hitting this year
500LevelSTH Verified Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Time to end the Pillar leadoff experiment. He's still not doing well there. And one of Smoak or Cola need to go.. neither are hitting. And Smoak just probably lost more playing time after that 4 K game.. I thought despite the bad 3rd strike call Pillar's 10-11 pitch AB was one of the best of the season. he worked a key moment into a walk and got a bad call. hes improving, its 11 games in

Bullpen seems to have turned the corner. The strikeouts can't possibly continue at this rate.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Smoak is a remarkable 1 for 12 with 11 K's on the season so far. Chris Colabello is 1 for 19.

Martin and Tulowitzki can't be batting .100 forever and the other guys who are can be replaced relatively easily if need be.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 regression to the mean is a bitch. That's the mean?
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 I get that people think Colabello will regress considerably, and he will. But I don't get why they think Smoak is better. Soft hands.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Price tomorrow! Pretty sure its the knuckler?

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 regression to the mean is a bitch. Regression to the mean doesn't mean you do bad tomorrow if you did good yesterday. It means you always go back to your career averages + aging curve + bonus points for recent performance tomorrow = f*(career average)+a*(what you did recently) where f is a factor for age, 'a' depends on how much you weight recent performance (which is arguable. But the hive indicated in Jay Bruce discussions that they do weight recent performance heavier) simply put Smoak and Colla can be expected to hit at their average tomorrow. So at this point they can be expected to improve back to their mean.

Some ugly performances, but no reason to read into it any more than you would for other 11 game samples. We just aren't firing on all cylinders yet. Our D, with the exception of Tulo has been ok but uninspiring. When we don't pick it, we throw it away. The K's for our offense are not going to continue at this rate. Its pathetic right now. When we start to make better contact, the balls will start finding more holes. The rotation and pen are going to be enough. We are seeing some very positive things there. RA has a history of brutal starts before becoming serviceable.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 Pompey best player overall; Pillar 4th OF Pillar Cf, Pompey Rf, Bautista to 1b, Edwin DH and keep Smoak. Get rid of colabello for whatever u can get up to and including magic beans

guylaroche5 Verified Member Posted April 16, 2016 Posted April 16, 2016 I really need to set up a "Has Chris Colabello been optioned yet?" site. Get Montero's fat ass up here or try Pompey, any change is fine by me
