jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 ftfy That too.. that stadium is awful. Rob Manfred is hopefully pushing the city of Tampa/St. Pete to get their stadium situation fixed ASAP. No way the Rays make it to the end of their lease playing at the Trop.

But knowing how people react these days, he shouldn't have said it. At my workplace, we cant call it a "Christmas" party because that night offend some people. So its a "Holiday" party.

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 wow gibby's taking a lot of heat for his "dresses" comment. Well I think he deserves it TBH. It's a pretty flagrantly misogynist thing to say. Phil Robertson level bad. I know he was under a lot of stress but if you fall back on sexist cliches then you're pretty clueless. I find the level of casual sexism that people can utter without even realizing it pretty shocking. He's not a bad guy but good people need to be called out when they say dumb s***.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 Basically. There was no reason to give him the spot so Ceciliani could "play everyday" or whatever rationale people were giving for keeping the better performer in the MiL. It pisses me off. Jose and Saunders (especially) have both had their share of injuries and Pillar lays it out on every play. His catch in Gm 2 had me wincing. There will be ample playing time for Ceciliani(1st choice) or Pompey to develop at this level, and give us better value trying to win a World Series.

Lmfao, OK there. I don't want to engage but that was pretty over the top. I guess I find it hard to understand the mindset of getting upset over incredibly trivial statements.

Pompey is the 4th best OF in the org but Cecilliani would have been a nice compromise for those wanting Pompey to play everyday in Buffalo. Seemed like his emergence really created an acceptable third option between Pompey or garbage. Alas...

That seems the clear logic behind these statements. It's a f***ed up way of thinking. I can't believe that people can hear stuff like this and not cringe.

intrigid Verified Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 "A bit of a tight hamstring" is generally a DL stint. I experienced this myself 2 weeks ago running the bases. I didn't actually start to feel anything until well after the game, and it was just a slight feeling of tightness. I could barely walk the next 2 days, and I still can only run about 60% full speed two weeks later. People underestimate hamstring injuries, mainly because the symptoms are far milder than the actual damage. The muscular tissue literally separates itself from the bone, and all you might feel is a slight pinching sensation, but that s*** doesn't heal itself in just a few days.

Women on average are far less likely to engage in physical sports than men. Therefore, more likely to avoid physical plays at second. You're the one equating it with "bad" because your "I'm offended" alarm went off.

So you're saying that Gibby was saying that playing like girls would be good, desirable? Of course he was saying it was bad. There was just no reason to frame this as a boys versus girls thing. No reason at all. The fact that he did shows that he's fully assimilated the sexist trope.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2016 Posted April 6, 2016 lol - at least he made him throw 7 pitches, that's a different Pillar I think. Nah. The balls were 2 miles out of the strike zone.
