Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 I'd be extremely opposed to that. We have a playoff team, decent farm, and high payroll. There's no need to tank. You think the current iteration, one year older, sans Bautista and EE are a playoff team?? Obviously it depends on how Shapiro fills out the roster. I'm not opposed to seeing if he can build something around Donaldson, Tulo, Stroman, Sanchez.

We dominate league this year with some average luck in 1 run games, so there's plenty of talent even without those two. We had the best pitching staff in the league by a substantial margin and look to have upgraded with Liriano. However they choose to allocate their 30+ million in the offseason, the foundation for contention is already in place.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 My 5 year old son's first ever game. I showed him how to wear the rally cap that day and Travis made those in my section a believer. Best game of my life. What an awesome first game to attend. If he wasnt hooked before he must be now!
STLJaysFan Verified Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Nobody can predict baseball from one game to the next or one pitch to the next, even if something seems very probable or improbable. I thought the Royals were toast last year in that playoff game against the Astros and they ended up winning the World Series. The Giants in 2002 were 8 outs away from winning and the rally monkey awoke. And of course the Rangers 2011 last strike twice collapse will probably never be topped!

The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Is there a tie breaker game if the Bluejays and O's are tied in the top 2 wildcard spots with Detroit one game back of both? Or do they just use season record against each other to decide who has the home field advantage for the Wildcard game?

AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 What happens to the playoff schedule if the Tigers need to play the Monday game to tie for the 2nd Wild Card and win which puts them in a tie with the Jays or O's?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 What an awesome first game to attend. If he wasnt hooked before he must be now! He was already hooked - but that locked it down for sure. It was magical.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Getting rumblings already that the media is all ready to release stories about unacceptable behaviour in the clubhouse. I love this stuff, easiest out on all ends for a GM. Only now there is social media, and I for one am going to rip into the media on this one. I do wonder what happens if the Jays make another run in the playoffs though...do the stories get pulled or do they come out anyway.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 If the stories are real, I hope they come out, regardless of how they do WHEN they make the playoffs. There is s*** in every clubhouse that could be out and spun into anything wanted. There is the Jays anti-media stance right now that is causing this I'm sure. They have the two pics in the clubhouse with X's through them, representing do not do interviews with these people. Then there is the blasting loud music during media time. All of this sounds to me like a clubhouse that is pretty together on things (even if it is just against the media), but like I said there is s*** that goes on which could be spun in any way (players going out until late...probably happens every week, but it doesn't look good in the fans eyes if they lose a game after). My argument is that the media's job is to tell the fans the "inside scoop" which is funny cause we know they really don't, so why isn't this stuff reported on all season. Honestly much like Boston's supposed clubhouse issues in 2012. It's just the Front Office letting media make a story out of little things to help them do their jobs without as much fight from the people that buy the tickets.

CHRIS Verified Member Posted September 30, 2016 Posted September 30, 2016 Oh I get you know. Stuff that could be made into stuff if the media wanted to. Frankly, I'm tongue-in-cheek surprised that there are only two X's.

Lol Kelly can be a bit painful at times sure but I wonder what he did to justify this. Probably a very minor slight though I don't see why the players should feel obligated to talk to anyone they don't like unless they work for Rogers.

Probably a very minor slight though I don't see why the players should feel obligated to talk to anyone they don't like unless they work for Rogers. I read a few things from him once that made me not want to read things from him again. I forget what. I'm pretty sure it had to do with my own tastes as a baseball reader, though. Not sure what a player would have against just talking to him, unless he got too pushy with a big name one day and then got his ass blacklisted by big name's influence.
