jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Marcus Stroman's new personal catcher = Dioner Navarro?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Even if he can give us a 3.5-4.0 ERA next year over 180+ innings I'll take that happily Liriano is much better than DickeyThole

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Marcus Stroman's new personal catcher = Dioner Navarro? It's more of Navarro has experience catching him and they want to get Martin off his feet but still in the lineup.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Marcus Stroman's new personal catcher = Dioner Navarro? Day game after a night game more likely.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Even if Liriano is a 4.00-4.50 ERA guy next season, I'd take him and a competent back-up catcher over Dickey and Thole for the same cost any day of the week. If Ramirez or McGuire turn into anything, then even better. Although we all know Searage is going to turn Hutch into a monster next season. Just have to prepare for that reality.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Day game after a night game more likely. Yeah I wasn't being serious. lol

Where are we going to get a good backup catcher? Almost all backup catchers suck and are barely an upgrade over Thole/Navarro.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Liriano is much better than DickeyThole Probably yes The thing with Liriano is he's had some spectacularly good years and some terrible ones. He's hard to predict. But yes he will almost certainly be better than Dickey 2016 and it allows us to pick up a better backup catcher.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 24, 2016 Author Posted September 24, 2016 Bob Elliot Blue Jays scouts Russ Bove and Chuck LaMar at Comerica Park this afternoon advancing Tigers in case of a future match up #Jays I like trading with Detroit
King Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I like trading with Detroit Scouting for a wild card or playoff matchup. Not a trade.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 I like trading with Detroit They're scouting them because they're likely who we're facing in the WC playoff, not for trades

Mediocre version of Liriano is better than a good Dickey Thole.....

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Daniel Norris and Boyd kid are good. f*** playoffs race. Say that when they actually face some real competition. September is a cake walk schedule for them. It would be embarrassing if they don't have atleast one of the wild card spots locked up.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 The central always secures the worst and two of the three worst teams in the league. Without fail. Now it's Minny before it was Chi Sox Tigers were bad for a long time then Cleveland It's like they have an agreement. AL East for the last 20 years has pretty much dominated the other leagues
GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Wow, Pete Walker telling Stroman to run his 4 seam up in the zone more and working on his breaking pitches? Thoughts on Walker being worth 3.46 WAR more than Callaway, THANOS?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Orlando the Brazilian is good wahahahaha f*** Tigers
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Where are we going to get a good backup catcher? Almost all backup catchers suck and are barely an upgrade over Thole/Navarro. A replacement level back up catcher is a half a win improvement over Thole. The back-up doesn't have to be good, just competent enough to be replacement level. Jeff freakin' Mathis is a 0.7 WAR improvement over Thole this season. I mean, the Jays don't have to get Tyler Flowers to back up or anything, just get someone who actually belongs in the Majors.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted September 24, 2016 Posted September 24, 2016 Did anyone else buy playoff tickets without really thinking about the cost and then get all startled when they saw their credit card balance?

He's a stud catch and throw guy, average framer, and has some potential in the bat. He might be available if they decide to go with Bandy.

Although it wouldn't be a bad idea to secure another back up in case he isn't ready.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Nah, McGuire is 21. He will probably start in AA. No point keeping him on the bench behind Martin rather than playing everyday in the minors.
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Did anyone else buy playoff tickets without really thinking about the cost and then get all startled when they saw their credit card balance? Not this guy, blip on my radar.

Although it wouldn't be a bad idea to secure another back up in case he isn't ready. In my opinion, McGuire would benefit from a full year in Buffalo. He could be a future starting catcher if we give him time to develop the bat.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Did anyone else buy playoff tickets without really thinking about the cost and then get all startled when they saw their credit card balance? I definitely bought cheaper tickets this year (500s) because I know I probably wont have extras to sell. It was kinda cool to have the whole strip last year, I was able to sell some for double/triple face and they paid for the games I did go to.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2016 Posted September 25, 2016 Are the Jays really "Canada's team" like they portray it? I mean obviously this is a broad question and different people root for different teams, etc. but are all regions of Canada really on board with this team? We always see and hear about lots of people from BC go down to see Seattle vs. Jays games but how many are truly seattle fans? Or people in Windsor since Detroit is such a short drive, Joe Siddall talks a lot about how it's split there too 50/50 between Tigers and Jays fans. Or Manitoba bordering Minnesota, now many are Twins fans (lol before the rebuild of course). I don't buy that people so many thousands of KMs away have as much of an attachment to a team as a closer one just because one is Canadian and one isn't... or am I wrong?

Did you watch the games in Seattle?
