thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2016 Posted September 18, 2016 So Justin Smoak is now at 0.0 fWAR. He has 0.4 fWAR in 817 career games. Why does this guy still have a job? Holy f***.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 I wonder if any team would take him this offseason. Why? 1B is the "Hit the f***ing baseball" position, and Smoak can't hit. You don't need an 1B only bench guy, when you could have an 1B-3B or 1B-corner Of.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Getting completely shut down by the Angels with 14 games to go might be the team's low this year. What an absolute choke of the season. The opposing team's quality doesn't even matter at this point. The team refuses to do anything to win.

Big changes in the coaching staff and, likely, the offense construction are coming in the off-season. It would be nice if we didn't have to sacrifice this season to get there though .

It would be nice if we didn't have to sacrifice this season to get there though . Proven MVP candidates have gone completely cold all at once. Not sure what the coaches can do about that or what magic dynamic you think isn't in place. The players know what they're doing and have carried the team for nearly a calendar year's worth of games over the past two seasons. In situations like this you just acknowledge that faceplants happen even to big name squads.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Jays are 28th in MLB for runs scored in September. The team has forgotten how to hit.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Good morning How is everyone feeling about our chances to hang on to the WC
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 (edited) Team has completely broken me. Obviously we can still make the playoffs. But the s***** hitting and defense is killing us. Sneaking in at this point barely feels like a good thing. Even a .500 September excellent chance we are still either leading the division or tied. fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 So we have the oldest team in baseball. Everyone in the media loves to rave about that the oldness an advantage of experience... where the f*** is the experience when everyone's making these boneheaded plays? Why hasn't anyone taken Travis and told him what the f*** he's doing wrong? Why is Edwin getting thrown out like a fish on the bases? I love Gibbons, I really do. I never believed the notion that he's only a good manager when things are doing good, he usually helps uplift the team - or so I thought. Someone made this point in the GDT, he's real laid back and lets the team police themselves... but the players are all obviously lost and even Tulo's talk didn't do much for these guys. Gibbons needs to come out and put his foot down and straight up tell everyone next mental error could cost us the post season and will cost the player the next game immediately. There's no accountability I feel

There's no accountability I feel Travis one of the few guys producing, despite his bone headed base running 2 nights ago. Vetrin presents is one of the most over rated value adds in baseball. A young Yankees team just swept our asses. I'm finding it nauseating to listen to Buck and Tabby fap on about it while we get crushed in Sept.

What's wrong with Tulo?

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2016 Posted September 19, 2016 Our average batters are 30 years old and our average pitchers are 29. The age of the batters is still old I think you're jumping to a lot of conclusions when you say that our slump is age related. There's not enough evidence to support that. Donaldson is by far our biggest problem on the batting side of things and he's in his prime.

There's not enough evidence to support that. Donaldson is by far our biggest problem on the batting side of things and he's in his prime. Well old people get banged up more and slow down a lot. I think a lot of it has to do with the growing age. Durability usually goes down as age climbs. Obviously Donaldson's an exception because he's playing through a leg injury since May and a recent hip injury. But that's not even really my argument lol. What I meant to say with my original post is when people talk about an old group of players they usually say its good to have "experience" on your side. Where's this experience when we've seen so many blunders, why isn't the belt being tightened? This team looks like they're accepting the fact they're free-falling. Maybe there's a problem with leadership? Not enough leaders? Or maybe there's a clubhouse issue? I don't know what exactly is the problem but it doesn't look like anyone wants to really win right now. You can see after strikeouts, very tame depressed looks going back to the dugout.
