Governator Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 The only thing he might have over Rasmus is a less attractive free agent pool to compete with and I'm not even sure about that because I've already forgotten what this year's FA class was like. He does have an AS next to his name on the season though which would help him, no?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Bargain hunting! Despite being a top market! Yay!
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 I think we could probably get Lind back pretty cheap. He has ties to Toronto, and he was pretty awesome when he was here. I think his value is at an all-time low, and we could really get a bargain for 1B/DH.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Bargain hunting! Despite being a top market! Yay! This!! Lead the league in attendance. Lead the league in television ratings. Fans conditioned to look in the bargain bin for FA's.
BTS Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) Bargain hunting! Despite being a top market! Yay! It's pretty rare that big market teams get more than 1-2 years into a big FA deal and don't regret their decision. I wouldn't be upset if the team flexed some financial muscle on a 7-8 year Donaldson extension though. Edited September 9, 2016 by BTS
Sorrow Verified Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 He's been annihilating the KBO for years now and might come back. Had that 40, 40, 40 season last year and hit 40 hrs again this year. Is also showing strong K:BB rates and is supposedly playing good D at 1B. I'd take a flyer on Thames on a MLB deal.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 So what's everyone's predictions for the team's free agents? Bautista - offered QO and signs somewhere else for 3/75 with an opt-out after year 1 Encarnacion - offered QO and signs somewhere else for 4/100 Saunders - accepts QO Dickey - signs somewhere else for 1/7 Feldman - signs somewhere else for 2/15 Benoit - re-signs for 1/4 Cecil - signs somewhere else for 2/12 Navarro - re-signs for 1/3 Thole - continues to leech off Dickey for league min Muy de acuerdo. Saunders for 1/17 isn't good

Governator Community Moderator Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Kind of worth noting the stadium Thames' home team plays at is 381 ft to center field, 9' smaller than Fenway, 55' smaller than Minute Maid park lol.

LOL. Well, to be fair, the HRs he hits aren't exactly wall scrapers there. I think the biggest takeaway should be his K/BB ratio. He could have a Kang type transition which I'd love.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 We'd have to modify the doors at the dome so Thames could even enter the building! Then buy him a whizzinator...

I really doubt the KBO has a high level PED testing program. That league puts more emphasis on entertainment than anything. They do music and dance shows with the crowd while the games are being played lol.

That said, he was still a brick s*** house when he played for us, and was never busted, so there's a chance . Edited September 10, 2016 by THANOS

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Does Randy Ruiz still play baseball?

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Jays held a players only meeting today Long overdue imo
VE2OH Verified Member Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Jays held a players only meeting today They all looked tired last night.!!!! Upton looks more like a dud everyday. Where is Ben Revere when we need him????
puphood Verified Member Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 The timing of the quote is related to the question being asked directly and the answer was basically that no they are not focused on re-signing these guys at the moment so what's the problem exactly? I think his response if I take it correctly was inappropriate in timing and he could of had a No Comment answer. From a FA perspective it has to affect what your thinking in regards to your future, relationship with this team, and makes you wonder who you are playing for.......
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 They all looked tired last night.!!!! Upton looks more like a dud everyday. Where is Ben Revere when we need him???? Ben Revere is in Washington sucking enormous dick. He's one of the worst players in baseball this year posting a wRC+ of 47 and -1.0 WAR. I know it's hard to imagine, but Upton's been better than Revere this year during his stint with the Jays. Think about that for a second and absorb how f***ing terrible Revere is and then never mention his name again please.

VE2OH Verified Member Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Pretty foolish to base your opinions of baseball players on one game. What games since he came have you missed. I saw them all and he isn't worth 1m let alone 20. At least there is hope for Travis, he is only trying too hard some times. Also foolish to base your opinion purely on stats.
