G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 Travis is looking much better in field after a few days rest.!! Yeah, this is the time of year that nagging injuries catch up with guys, and days off can help We often have no idea how much each guy is hurting
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why are we hoping to re-sign him?
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why are we hoping to re-sign him? well what if Dickey needs to pitch in September, and Russ shows that he can't handle the knuckleball (or worse, he gets injured) we need the guy
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 Did Navarro ever catch Dickey?
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Did Navarro ever catch Dickey? No and he's an objectively terrible receiver. It's not an option. Thole (or failing that Kratz) needs to be added to the 40 in September to catch the remaining Dickey starts.

Good In September we can carry a third catcher just for Dickey without it hurting as much Neither will be needed in the post season. I see Navarro making the post season roster over Thole and Kratz and that works well actually. The pitching/catching situation is starting to make more sense
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 All that said, Martin better stay healthy...
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 According to this: http://m.espn.com/mlb/teamroster?teamId=14&src=desktop&rand=ref~%7B%22ref%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.co.uk%2F%22%7D there are 3 places on the 40 man roster. Room for thole, Montero and leave one free for flexibility? Of the players already on, I want to see Pompey and Floyd (if he's fit enough) and the usual rotation of relievers called up.

Floyd's alive? who knew.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Floyd's alive? who knew. Floyd was described as out for 8 to 12 weeks from the end of June. That would be from last week, to the week starting 19th September. If he hasn't started any recovery yet then it's probably a non starter, but I haven't seen any updates on him at all.

baseballsss Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Or beat the Phillies in the WS No No No see the jays in 92 and 93 won the world series with a 75-57 record through a 132 games. Now we can only assume the baseball gods are going to be dicks and the 2015 and 2016 Jays shall have the same fate. Actually the baseball gods probably already have it we lose to the Rangers in game 7 on a Bautista error.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Jaw drops: That's actually pretty crazy. So our last 4 post-season appearance not only are they paired back to back, but all finished with the same record through 132

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 Only the Cubs are on pace to win over 100 games and they might not
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Please don't let this be the jinx that makes us miss this year's playoffs oh no
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 So in other words we will lose to the Royals in the ALCS again. Providing the Red Sox or Rangers don't stop them first--right now,the seeding as of today: 1. Rangers 79-54 2. Indians 75-56 3. Blue Jays 75-57 WILD CARD: Red Sox 73-59 (+1.0 GB) Orioles 72-60 Tigers 71-61 (1 GB) Astros 70-62 (2 GB) Royals 69-63 (3.0 GB) Yankees 68-63 (3.5 GB) So basically, the matchups are: Toronto vs. Cleveland Texas vs. WC team No guarantee the Royals make the playoffs--I'd be more worried about the Astros or Tigers overtaking the Red Sox and O's.. and keep an eye on the Yanks and Royals as well.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Would much rather play the Rangers than the Engines.

That list is missing Colabello and Matt Dominguez. We have 2 spots until Floyd comes off the DL where we'd have 1. 1 for the presumed 3rd catcher.

In all seriousness is everyone else hoping we play the Rangers in the ALCS and go to game 7? As much as I want the world series that might make for the best baseball we've ever watched as a fan of the Jays.

I'm pretty sure Colabello is ineligible for the post season regardless, so a no brainer to remove him from the 40 man.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Author Posted August 31, 2016 Colabello never even opccured to me as a possible September callup Might as well have him as a pinch hitter maybe
