Goins as a strictly defensive replacement is probably more appealing than Zeke, which is alarming.

I hear what you're saying but you're not gonna put him in for Tulo and you're not gonna put him in for Donaldson. The only possibility would be Travis, but we can just use Barney for that.

Our infield defense is really solid. You don't need both Barney and Goins as defensive replacements.

Kinda wanna see what Dickey can do as a long man out of the pen

I kinda want to see what Dickey will do during his retirement. Starting today. I bet he'll write a book.

And our OF defense sucks. Certain lineups will require two defensive replacements.

The only lineups that require two replacements are the ones that don't already have both Upton and Pillar in them and if they're not both in the lineup than one of them is available defensively so you don't really need a 6th outfielder. That being said the extra lineup spot will have to be used on something. Whatever it is seems pretty extraneous at this point whether that's Goins, Zeke, Bolsinger, Barnes.

A sixth outfielder could come in handy if we're using one as a pinch runner. Let's say Upton/Pillar/Saunders start with Bautista at dh, which we'll probably see a fair amount. Pompey comes in to run for Edwin or whoever. Zeke could still be useful as a defensive replacement for Saunders.

Yeah good point.

Just move Pompey to the OF in that scenario. No need to burn two separate players for the pinch running late inning defensive OF role.

But then we'd lose the DH and if we have 5 bench players it wouldn't really matter if we burned two players. But you're raising good points, I think there is merit to several different postseason roster constructions right now.

Have we even see this once since Jose's come off the DL?

Whether it's Upton, pillar and saunders with bautista at dh or Upton, pillar and bautista with saunders at dh, the point remains. Unless you want smoak playing, these are the two options.

This just popped into my head

Whatever happened to our annual "lets make a GDT in another dead forum" event

I even used to have it marked in my calendar

"Rays Board takeover day"

We missed it this year

That would be shut down in the blink of an eye.

He hasn't played on our 25 man this season, unless he gets called up today or tomorrow to become eligible, or injury, of course.

Am I wrong?

Just ask Lizard Squad. They're probably bored these days.

Best defensive and offensive lineup tonight against a plunging O's team:

1. Jose Bautista ® DH

2. Josh Donaldson ® 3B

3. Edwin Encarnacion ® 1B

4. Russell Martin ® C

5. Troy Tulowitzki ® SS

6. Michael Saunders (L) RF

7. Melvin Upton Jr. ® LF

8. Kevin Pillar ® CF

9. Devon Travis ® 2B

P JA Happ

And the Os.. still no Adam Jones and really bad OF defense:

1. Steve Pearce ® LF

2. Pedro Alvarez (L) DH

3. Manny Machado ® 3B

4. Mark Trumbo ® RF

5. Chris Davis (L) 1B

6. Jonathan Schoop ® 2B

7. Matt Wieters (S) C

8. J.J. Hardy ® SS

9. Nolan Reimold ® CF

Gibby got the positions right at least IMO. I'd tweak the lineup a little bit but it's close enough.

And a gigantic LOL @ that Orioles OF defense.

That's gross. We could play Bautista AND Saunders in the OF and still have way better defense out there.
