Sanchez was optioned to the minors...they were planning on skipping a start and this gives them the extra roster spot. I figured they would DL him at some point for this but I guess this works as well.

Why bring back JD today when we have a slim chance of winning vs Kluber anyway? We have an off day tomorrow, could have given him 2 more days rest.

Oh shut up. Apparently you didn't watch Kluber's start vs. the Jays in July where he was lit up heavily...

I thought they would do this to be honest. But we are a better team on both sides of the ball with him on the field. Plus he probably pushed to get back in the lineup.

Seems as though the new regime left a lot of the developmental system guys in their positions for an evaluation period, and are now making some moves to bring in some of their own hires...am I off-base here?

Joey votto averaging under 10 mil per season for the next 8 seasons is probably going to draw a lot of attention from virtually every team in the league.

LOL y'all are crazy. Votto is hitting .450/.546/.708 in 150 PA since the allstar break. Not to mention his .515(!) wOBA and 226wRC+

 

How is he not worth every single penny? For god sake he was a 7.5 fWAR player in 2015. He'll be worth his contract for the next 4 years too. It might hurt a little in 5 years from now, but the short term gain is worth it. If you replace Smoak with Votto in the lineup we're easily the favourites coming out of the AL. The reds would laugh at that offer
