Can we trade Happ after win the Cy Young this offseason for a package like Dickey was traded?

Maybe the dBacks?

Too bad AA didn't take a GM job somewhere.

Just wanted to point out wow what a tough schedule for the Orioles. Today they're finishing the series against the A's (after dropping 3 straight against them) then they face:

San Francisco @ AT&T Park

Boston @ Home

Astros @ Home

2 games vs. Nationals @ Home then 2 more in Nationals park

So while their record is really great at home, they play 5 games away in NL parks against league leaders and play Boston at home who's always a fight... Astros might be the only break they get before playing the Yanks and we go and visit them right after

Thats a brutal schedule.

Sure is

Until recently it didn't seem to matter. They just seemed to keep winning no matter what.

But they finally sem to be faltering, and hopefully continue to do so.

I don't imagine the Astros really wanted a 1.3 WAR season (what he's on pace for) out of Colby for 16 million dollars. That's 23% of their entire payroll this year.

Edit: Oh, and no draft pick. Cause there's no way they roll the dice on him again.

Trumbo's second half collapse has been as expected, 22 wRC+ since July 15th.

Luv it

Also, Showalter so stubborn he just keeps batting him 4th too. Please keep doing this.

Trumbo Davis have powered down so if you can navigate your way through Machado your sitting pretty good

It depends how the rest of Saunders' season shakes out but would you sign him for 1 year, 16.7 million right now? I would.

I'd offer it to him but be prepared that he could accept. Given how few OFers there are on the market he might turn it down. But again this all depends on how his final two months look.

His injury history, D and his K rate are major concerns. But having said that a QO is worth the risk he accepts. If he continues to tank for the remainder of 2016 then obviously they will have to reconsider. He is mired in a deep rut.

They faltered a bit last month too. Chris Davis was atrocious. Boston finally faltered a bit too. We're coming off a tough stretch now. But no one is going to stop, just slow down and pick back up. I still believe it's gonna be a 3 team race, just that its Jays-Boston-Baltimore order with both teams winning the wild-card. 2 AL East teams are going through unless something really weird is happening. If we win/sweep the Astros series it's going to be Mariners and Tigers chasing #3 of the AL east for a wild card spot

Since coming back from injury.. Tulo is hitting .296/.355/.546 with 11 dingers and 35 RBI in 40 games.

He's still got it. Tulo <3

Even when he wasn't hitting much I love that guy. Great D and a burning desire to win. He will come up big over the next 6 weeks. Stay healthy Tulo.

lol what have you done lately for me crowd. Hope he DIAF

Unbelievable how little residual appreciation there is for the guy. I mean it's partly his own fault for his gross mishandling of his off season contract negotiations but his blustery posturing wasn't worse than what many other players have done in his situation and for it to undo 8 great seasons culminating in one of the franchise's most iconic moments is gross.

Yep at the end of the day, Bautista doesn't owe this franchise anything nor does the franchise owe him anything. He's been a stud for us the past 5 years and now that his body has broken down, people are quick to throw him under the bus.

Now there's a handful of fans here which never liked his attitude in the first place and I can respect that. I've always loved the guy though

Ya it's petty infantile and pathetic imo. If he wasn't a free agent and likely gone next year, people would sing a different tune.

I like him too

I want him back on a 1 year deal badly. I just don't want the team to give him a stupid loyalty type contract. And I'm confident that Shapiro and Atkins won't.

If he signed a 3 year 54 m contract to dh, people would soil their drawers in excitement no matter what they are saying now

He deserves somewhere in the victor/beltre neighborhood contract

Doubt he takes the QO. Might be able to snag him for 3/60 though. I doubt any team gives him 5 years based on his age. With 2 DL stints this year, even if they are freak accidents, will still cause teams to shy away from any monster deal.

Plus how many teams actually think he can play a good RF. I doubt there's many left. And if he's a DH...what will the market bear?

Posted
He wont do 3/60 as a 36 year old if he thinks he is a 30aav player. He doesn't want to hit the market as a 39 year old.It would behoove him to take a 1 yr deal somewhere in that case where he doesn't get blown away with offers, unless it was like Cespedes. Front loaded and opt out after 1 year

Lets just stop pretending to know what he will and wont take. So much has changed since ST and so much will change from now until FA.

Jays go 30-17 here on out and win the East with 95 wins book it.

That's a 63 winning%, that's not the easiest to do with Boston an Baltimore games still remaining

He does seem like the kind of guy who would take a 1 year deal hoping to have a good year and cash in after that, rather than accept a mediocre 3 year deal now. Even though the latter MIGHT be smarter financially.

Yeah but the calls today were really interesting. I'd say 2/3s of people were calling in to support Bautista and the other 1/3 were getting on him for being fragile his whole career and he brought it upon himself with the preseason comments etc

Also almost no one was as vocal about the FO not locking him up/not thinking about resigning him compared to opening day.

The amount of people not supporting/doubting Bautista as a whole is still staggering and stupid. He does not deserve any of this, and Mark my word if we sweep the O's and he has the biggest series people will go back to the airwaves to rail shatkins for not signing him. I guess this reactionary support is the byproduct of having the largest fanbase in the league
