Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I read this as: Russ got hammered and hurt his knee, then lied to the team about how it happened. Or as Spanky calls it..... Tuesday
Governator Community Moderator Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 Man this team has found some f***ed up ways to injure themselves the past few years. Saunders with sprinkler Izturis dugout stairs Stroman fielding a bunt in practice Pillar with his superman sneeze Martin's fake sauna injury that likely involved hookers & whisky

jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 1. Darwin Barney ® 3B 2. Josh Donaldson ® DH 3. Edwin Encarnacion ® 1B 4. Michael Saunders (L) LF 5. Troy Tulowitzki ® SS 6. Kevin Pillar ® CF 7. Ezequiel Carrera (L) RF 8. Devon Travis ® 2B 9. Josh Thole (L) C ...Thank f*** Joey Bats is back tomorrow.
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Darwin Barney has a WAR of 1.2 in 213 plate appearances and 68 games - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=2430&position=2B . His contract is for 1 million dollars for one year (2016). He has shown that he is good at 3B, SS and 2B and decent in LF (he might even be good at LF). He can even catch in an emergency, and pitched an inning. He has close to league average run production; maybe now would be a good time for the Blue Jays to extend his contract while they can probably get him relatively cheaply.

What do you think, a 2/7 extension?
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 What do you think, a 2/7 extension? That sounds high considering that he was in AAA for most of last year, but maybe just an extra year for $2M. According to fangraphs his contract with the Cubs for 2014 was $2.3M, and it was $2.5M in 2015 with the LA Dodgers and Blue Jays, but it decreased to $1M with the Blue Jays this year.

Could do a 1 year extension with an option year to get it done likely (say 2.5 million, plus a 3 million team option)unless Barney really feels confident in a guaranteed multi-year deal as a backup utility IF on the open market. I don't see a lot of backup infielders signing multi-year deals for any real cash. If there's a team that actually sees him as a starter though after his good year... he'll be gone.

He won't be leaving until the end of 2017--what you forgot was that he's still arb eligible for next season, as he doesn't have 6 years service time. Jays still control him for 1 more season.

nextyear Verified Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Jose Bautista is only hitting 0.091 in AAA - http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?t=g_box&gid=2016_07_24_gwiaaa_bufaaa_1&sid=milb . However, it is only 3 games so it does not mean very much, but still I thought that he would be knocking the cover off the baseball down in AAA.

Basically means nothing--as long as he's healthy, he'll be back on Toronto's roster tomorrow, leading off and playing RF.
