Moves to the Bullpen and overthrows cecil as the setup man.

Hopefully he will get another bullpen appearance - but this time I hope he will be warmed up better so he doesn't hurt his arm again. I am interested in seeing what he can do as a pitcher :)

I have no idea why we always seem to be linked to Jay Bruce. Shapiro always goes on about the "win curve" and how to improve the team by fractions of a win and the risk attached to it in the trade market in-season. And somehow we're linked to a guy who, even in a great offensive year (for his standards), is worth 0 WAR lol.

So he would be a great DH if Edwin can play 1B everyday?

I am 6 feet and 150 pounds so I usually wear medium all the time, all my friends wear mediums or large, I don't know anyone personally that wears an XL.

I don't mean to call you a liar or anything, but that isn't possible if you know a normal number of people and this chart is remotely accurate.

Before you say you don't know fat people, consider that not all people have narrow shoulders and a small chest like the great majority of people who are also 6 feet tall and can actually fit a medium. My dad went from 6'3 230 to a pretty sickly looking 180 pounds with leukemia and his shirt size didn't change from XXL.

Oh, I know. I mean, I wouldn't even attempt to advocate for them giving out women's sizes, but I've always thought it wouldn't be too much of a hassle if they had small through extra large. And then obviously once the size you want is gone, you're out of luck and have to get one that's larger/smaller.

I can't understand why they don't have a variety either. There's enough info out there to at least get a ballpark (pardon the pun) estimate of shirt sizes.

It's certainly possible depending on the type of crowd you associate with and the city you're living in. Vancouver is an extremely healthy city for example with only 12% of the population being obese. Totally possible to not know people who may be overweight. I'm a student and the number of overweight or obese people in my program of 600 is really really low and I'm not surprised considering the nature of the program. Obesity rates can differ pretty widely in areas.

I specifically debunked that argument in the post that you quoted and obviously didn't read. We can safely assume that taller guys like Tulowitzki and Saunders can fill out an XL shirt. Are they obese? Certainly not and everyone knows a few guys like them.

One big thing, especial in T shirts, is that people wear a size larger than they actually are because they did it as kids. I need to wear XL because of my shoulders, and post lifting I can't actually get my arms into the sleeves on a large shirt.

I've been wondering if more suburban communities are inherently less healthy communities (in general) because you can't simply walk somewhere for a meal, or a coffee or for groceries, you quite literally need to drive to stores. I have a grocery store about 3.3km away that I try and walk to at least once a week for groceries as my job is rather sedentary.

At 6'3" 215 most guys probably could safely wear a size L shirt. I'm 6'1" 250 and only need an XL for shoulder width, nothing else. A lot of people tend to wear shirts too large.

There's so many variables to take into account, but a large would generally be too short on a guy that height. I'm 6'6 and large shirts come down to my belly button. I look pretty much like J.A. Happ for comparison.

I can't believe this Shirt s*** Debate is still going on and on and on !!! lol

Also pretty AweSome month of July the Jays having 7-1, scoring 56 runs 2nd most in Mlb. But even more impressive is the Pitching staff have a combined 2.20 era and have only allowed 20 runs against for 1st in both in Mlb. Awesome!!!

Hard to believe we lost even that one!

Lol

Lol I know. But I love when the off topic stuff creeps in to the main forum. I think the hottest Jays rankings was my favorite thread. I think we should pony up some money and get a cheap trophy and mail it to the winner each year.

Also, I know why Grant cares about t-shirt sizes as well because I'm a similar build and it's a pain. In my experience the larger sizes accommodate girth moreso than they accommodate length. Some companies make everything for a person who is 6 feet tall and then they just make the shirts wider for those who are bigger rather than longer for those who are taller. At 6'5'' 220 I find I'm in between a large or an XL most times. The XL's just don't add much length over the larges and instead they add width so I end up with something that's still short and now baggy.

Size Large from American Apparel is a perfect fit for me and if Grant could get over his hatred of the US they would probably fit him well. :P

Yeah I was nervous about the offense. I knew they'd start hitting better but I thought it might not be anywhere near last year. On top of that I was worried that the rotation would fall off. But what's happened is that the offense has come roaring back while the starting rotation is maintaining it's very good start.

Gotta like where we are at right now.

Blue Jays now have the most wins in the AL East

... Still not in first because the Orioles still have several games to make up, but we're only 1 game behind now

Woohoo!!

You shouldn't weight in-season defensive stats so much in this context.

Whats the reason for the love affair some have with Jay Bruce?

120 wRC+ and 0.0 WAR in his best season since 2012 so far.

Interesting fangraphs piece assessing Jay Bruce's overall value. ^

Blue Jays are scouting Josh Reddick. They are interested in trading for him before the deadline per ESPN Radio.

Just heard this on the radio.

I don't see how that lineup is "gross". Its still better than 50% of the teams in baseball.

When you compare it to the lineup below it's pretty f***ing gross.

Travis

Bautista

Donaldson

EE

Saunders

Tulo

Martin

Smoak

Pillar

Sigh I hate the idea of going into the break 3 back especially when we were basically right there two days ago

I feel like old man Gibby is throwing it all away again

He's trying to prepare us to the post Bautista/EE days.

With Edwin and Jose out there isn't much you can do especially with a Dickey start. Good thing Anibal Sanchez is on the mound.
