Like Hentgen said....pitchers can shake. Not Martin's fault.

That's a great listen, thanks for sharing. It's tough losing Hentgen from our org in an everyday role(He's taking care of his ill dad). I'm pretty sure, he has an open spot if or when he'd like to come back. Preferably our pitching coach.;)

Yes. And then Doc can take this job. :)

I highly doubt the Doc will ever coach.

Yeah, I've said the same thing before. Prob doesn't have the personality or interest. But "Special advisor" I could see though. Isn't that what Hentken and Alomar do?

Yeah, Hengten was our BP coach prior to his dad falling ill(He's still there during ST). IIRC, Halladay had come by the ST facility to help out before. He and Carpenter are huge fisherman so I could never see them getting back in it.

Wish he was still our BP coach. We dominated then.

As someone who still pitches - I know I can shake the catcher off (although all catchers hate this), but to be honest, I rarely do. Personally, I want to "think" less when I pitch.

What I find happens a lot is I think Pitch A -"slider low and away" and the catcher calls Pitch B - "inside fastball". Is an inside fastball a terrible call? Probably not (if I execute)....is the slider away a "better" pitch for this situation? Maybe - but by how much? I mean f***'d if I have time to analyse this while standing on the mound....so I don't shake the catcher off unless:

a. I truly don't feel comfortable throwing that pitch in that location (maybe don't have a good feel for the changeup that day, or I'm tiring and leaving the slider up too much to throw it in this situation); or

b. I think Pitch A is tangibly better to throw in this situation than Pitch B - and that has to come almost instantly to me, without any thought at all.

Point being - even though the pitcher has the ability and "right" to shake a catcher.....The catcher should take a lot of the blame when the wrong pitch is throw (if executed properly). Pat's just trying not to throw Martin under the bus b/c of the PC police and MLB Bruh buttlove.

When I pitched, and I had a call I didn't like, I'd just shake em off, there's just way too much noise in these situations.

An MLB pitching staff/catchers and coaches go over their plan of attack in the afternoon/morning, everyday, on how to chuck each batter, in every different situation(1st/2nd/3rd time through), the onus is on both who's on the mound, and ultimately the catcher, these things change between innings as well. To put it all on the catcher, is horseshit.

P.S. How old are you, what league are you playing in, Seniorball(18+)?

Tulo left with quad tightness. Reevaluated tomorrow.

Sounds like he may miss a game or two but should be fine.

Paredes -> shortstop

I said the catcher deserves a lot of the blame...not all of it...I guess I just don't like the catcher being let off the hook with no blame as Hengten suggested.

I play senior ball in the NDBL.

Hentgen, never said that, but he's right, in what he said.

Shapiro dismisses Donaldson regarding his rants

"“My reaction is those are credible concerns,” president and CEO Mark Shapiro said in an interview Tuesday. “However, I feel like those need to be handled privately, and that we need to focus on how we’re playing, and that any energy spent on anything else right now is energy spent for me and for all of us away from what’s most important – that we have a sense of urgency about our team playing the best it can play.”"

He may as well get atleast one error at every position.

Edwin's K-rate still up almost 8% from last year, and if he plays to projections ROS he'll finish with a wRC+ around 120, after four years in a row at 150. He might be costing himself a lot of money.

I don't see where.

he's telling him to focus on team performance rather than philosophical ideas on HBP and all the like. And he is entirely right.

He should have said "PS, stop being so obsessed with Vikings too!"
