Muck Bartinez Verified Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Jays are currently 16th in runs scored per game at 4.14, and 15th in runs against per game at 4.23. I would have thought they would have been a little lower ranked on the pitching/defense side but I guess it's more the timing of the runs scored than the quantity (other than last night).
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Arden Zwelling Devon Travis is going to take 3-4 at-bats against live pitching in a Blue Jays extended spring training game on Friday. No next step planned

Would this add value and create more wins moving forward the rest of the season? Stats Geeks Unite ! 1. Dfa or trade Dickey and his pet monkey! ( pay 60-70 ) get a catcher in return, that all we can hope for or ask. Go to a four man Rotation piggybacked and maybe alternate Starts between the duo's created. Pairing something as such: 1. Stroman/ Sanchez RH/RH 2.Happ/ Chavez LH/RH 3.Estrada/Leblanc RH/LH 4.Floyd/ Diamond RH/LH Have them go 5/3 or 4/4 split with the odd 9 game finish or 8 leaving one inning work for the pen. This would mean about 140 innings per arm till seasons end, I believe doable! Then go to a 4 or 3 man pen and r

Sorrow Verified Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 Remember when a bunch of people were wishing that the Jays had signed Gil Meche? That rotation that year would've been fun though. Doc, Burnett, Lilly, Meche and then the s*** pipe that was Chacin, Janssen, Towers, Marcum, Taubenheim, McGowan.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2016 Posted April 28, 2016 After 23 gms we are K'ing 28% as a team. I think we were MLB top 5 team 2015 lowest K rate. Glass half full this mess isn't going to continue.

Oh ok I went with Four only to limit the innings pitch a Lil more. As not many of them have pitched more then 140 in the last couple years either.Plus I was trying to add Left handed pitching to maximize the RH/LH options! Not Gonna lie I somehow even forgot Hutch. But he needs to work a few things out and can be insurance for if starter goes Down or if Storen or Cecil continueto suck ass and we need to make a move!
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 I rarely do it because it can be remarkably unsatisfying talking Jays/baseball with any real life friends. Yesterday I sent a text saying "our Jays have been sucking" to a bud who is an otherwise intelligent guy who has been a fan since the late 80s. His response: "Yes sir, terrible so far. I think Drew should say up as a starter, move Dickey to the pen, and send Cecil down to the minors"

I just tune it all out to avoid losing my mind. I also made the mistake of listening to Wilner and the post game show the other day. I know everyone hates Wilner, but I would quit my job if I had to take calls from the general public.

Hal Johnson Verified Member Posted April 29, 2016 Posted April 29, 2016 Goins in vs. a lefty pitcher again. What exactly has Ryan Goins done to deserve being "the guy", when it's pretty obvious that it should be a platoon? If Gibbons is using an older school mentality to justify it, that doesn't even make sense because Barney has won a gold glove. By old school, "gotta earn it" thinking, Barney is better than Goins.

Gibby gonna be Gibby. "Ryan did some good things for us last year". Loyal to a fault.

I think it's clear at this point that he's still riding the high from last year's playoff run and doesn't want to rock the boat. -Pillar leading off -Ezequiel being on the team -Colabello over Smoak in almost every situation despite being literally as bad as any one of us posting here There's no other explanation unless Barney's injured.

Get what's intelligent and what's flat out retarded. We don't all agree on things around here, but for the most part I think we all generally get it. I hate being in a social setting and I hear people try to talk sports. It actually offends me.

Me neither. Many of the callers are meatheads, but he is a condescending Jays apologist. He puts up with a lot, but it doesn't take much to improve on his show. Ben Ennis does a better job when he fills in.
