HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Jimenez gets designated. Proper retribution, I suppose
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Do we just pick up ALL of the Mariners failed hitters or something?!?!
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Ya with our awesome catcher depth he might be buried in AAA lol..... Low risk Stash him it pretty much makes him our 2nd best catcher
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 LOL as the collection of Seattle rejects piles up: Smoak Saunders (OK he didn't really fail as a hitter just got hurt) Montero He'll feel right at home
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Ya with our awesome catcher depth he might be buried in AAA lol..... Low risk Stash him it pretty much makes him our 2nd best catcher But can we option him to AAA?
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Ya with our awesome catcher depth he might be buried in AAA lol..... Low risk Stash him it pretty much makes him our 2nd best catcher I don't think he's caught since 2013
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 There's no way the team rosters him, Colabello, and Smoak. They'll try to send him to AAA.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Author Posted March 28, 2016 Barry Davis The #bluejays have have claimed Jesus Montero from Sea. To clear a spot on the roster, C A.J. JIMENEZ has been designated for assignment. Hutchison on AJ Jimenez DFA
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Gregor Chisholm @gregorMLB 57s58 seconds ago Montero is out of options and cannot be sent to Minors without clearing waivers. I'd have to think #BlueJays will try to get him through. Jays are 26th on the waiver wire so there's a decent chance he makes it through to Buffalo.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I don't think he's caught since 2013 Still doesn't mean he is not our 2nd best catcher lol
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Will he even last a week with the Jays? He'll have to pass through waivers again
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 It's funny because it feels like not too long ago this board was bustling at the thought of the Jays picking up Montero for an offense that was top-heavy and depth-free. Now on the surface Montero looks like the last thing the Jays need but if Colabello and/or Smoak fall of the face of the earth, he could be a good depth piece.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Can he catch a knuckler? Can he even catch a fastball?
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Can he even catch a fastball? Can't be worse than JPA, can he?
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Can't be worse than JPA, can he? Let's please raise that bar a little.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 If Martin goes down, putting Donaldson behind the plate, EE at third and Montero at DH is probably the better defensive scenario than Montero catching.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Can't be worse than JPA, can he? I don't think catching a fastball was JP's problem, he wasn't very good at it but passable. It was more to do with hitting anything that isn't a fastball.

So you risk your MVP because of that? That's crazy. Unless of course you're talking just for a few innings until they call up some other catcher.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 There's very little chance any team is going to carry Montero on their big league roster. He's practically a DH, at best 1B/emergency catcher, and hasn't hit at the big league level. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't pass waivers.
