GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Sorry, don't know what "clutch score" is. All I do know is that if you put him in a room with 24 other teams they'll start at the 150Mil mark. So either 24 other teams are crazy or he's worth it. I go with option 2, -4 "clutch score", whatever that is, or not. I guarantee there isn't 24 other teams willing to pay Jose 5/150
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 What did he say about RogerS? basically that the way things are set up that they don't put the money they should into baseball, but according to Jose baseball makes them $
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I guarantee there isn't 24 other teams willing to pay Jose 5/150 more like there are at least 24 teams who think the 150M for Jose conversation is stupid.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Whatever. Pay the man. I personally don't even want him back after his comments. He's always been a bit annoying with his whining at every strikeout, and throwing his teammates under the bus. Now he's trying to get the fans to turn on the front office. He's being an ass. I'm thankful for what he's done for us the last few years and for the value he's given. But it's time for him to f*** off.

polar bear Verified Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 He's worth it. Pay the man. Definitely not worth it,don't pay him.Asking way to much for someone who's fielding skills are rapidly declining.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I think its an incorrect analysis to compare a players own overall performance to his clutch perfomance. A better comparison would be player overall performance vs league average to player cluth performance vs league clutch performance with the Delta measuring overall clutch performance
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When did he throw his teammates under the bus? He's done it a few times, most recently with Goins in that ALCS game popup. A veteran should say "yeah there was some miscommunication, I should have gone after it." Instead he says "there was no miscommunication. You saw what happened"
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 dear god McCowan and Blair arguing about Bautista is mind numbingly stupid. Kevin f***ing Barker is the smartest guy in the room!

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 One of the reasons I'm all for this is that the numbers actually back up that he is a) ONE OF if not THE best clutch hitter in the AL and may stay healthy for at last 4 to 5 years with his INSANE training. If it was anyone else, I'd be like nope nope and more nope. But after the last 5 years and how he's trending as a late bloomer player? Pay the man the money. Can you tell me more about his INSANE training regimen? Thanks.

Moo3 Verified Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 He's obviously making up a ridiculously high number so that when he comes down from that it will "seem" like a bargain (but not for the Blue Jays, it seems). It's a game, a bargaining tactic. And your all dumn.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Given what Bautista has said already in the media regarding his contract negotiations, he should be completely open instead of half open and tell us what his ask is. Not sure what the point is in him saying publicly that he wants to resign but wont negotiate is without telling us what his demands are. If they are reasonable than fan pressure will help his cause, otherwise its only reasonable to side with management because we can only assume his demands are unreasonable. Why should he, know one does this?
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I miss the days of the Jays missing the playoffs, It was so much more peaceful around here. A lot less trash being posted
baseballsss Verified Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 When did he throw his teammates under the bus? Didn't he do it a couple of years ago with Janssen or something to?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Soooo... everything should be on the up and up by both Rogers and ballplayers, lets let the fans decide the contracts and budget, it's that f***ing simple. Eazy Peazy!
okbluejays Verified Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Can you tell me more about his INSANE training regimen? Thanks. Google "Jose Bautista Training" . There's a ton of stuff out there on him/it.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Didn't he do it a couple of years ago with Janssen or something to? Yes, that was another time. Thanks for reminding me. It was when we had that stretch with the bullpen blowing alot of games. Bautista basically trashed the relief pitchers
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 Didn't he and Goins say that was all garbage? Doesn't seem worse than Josh Donaldson with the "this is the get it done league" I didn't like that Donaldson comment either
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I didn't like that Donaldson comment either Why? #truthbomb
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 I didn't like that Donaldson comment either Actually i didn't mind the comment because it was not directed at anyone in particular. Its basically saying we have to get it done, not saying the pitching sucks or this guy need to play better or anything like that.

He was asked about the team sitting at or around .500, he said with their talent it was unacceptable including himself, "this isn't the try league, it's the get it done league" Classic!
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted February 23, 2016 Posted February 23, 2016 As per Fan590 right now: Apprarently they're trying to make the Jay Bruce trade work... even though it has fell through twice. What. Is. Going. On? What do they see in this guy? Probably the fact that he was fairly recently a very good player, still 28 and employ his hitting coach from when he was really good, plus he was a bit unlucky last year?
