GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Not really that crazy, or relevant. What is crazy is how pissy you get over the concept that casual bandwagon fans even exist. It's funny you say that. Because I've seen you tell me to stop and then you go and make comments to the same f***tards.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 ^^^ I'd take this with a grain of salt lol 2 more reporters confirmed it. http://www.thestar.com/sports/bluejays/2016/02/23/bautista-has-likely-priced-himself-out-of-toronto-arthur.html

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Who is this guy? Has he ever been bang on? My guess, Jose wants 4/100

GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 this is so messy do it like Halladay not like this
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Actually, looking at nexts year FA, he could get 30 a year, maybe 3/100

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I think Jose is looking for 4/120.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 MLB network has acknowledged the request, yet shoot it down as a specific request, weird? They think at most he's worth 4 a 100 million. Pretty rich, regardless.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Jose wants 10 and 300 Why not. f*** Rogers.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 I think Jose is looking for 4/120. Probably cares more about a longer term (more guaranteed money)

All right well that's a pretty decent analysis you have there It's hard to argue against well presented facts I guess Bautista is not that clutch ( though I always see him completely through - perception )
Lil Looper Verified Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Are people forgetting that Bautista will be 36.5 when April 2017 starts? It's not like he has a injury free history. He seems to have back issues every other year. He really shouldn't have that much leverage unless there are some really dumb GMs out there. I've said this before, I'd much rather tie up my money in Donaldson/Stroman in 2-3 years than be lugging a 25/30 million declining Bautista. He is also a pompous dick and while the bat flip was sick, he is so frustrating to watch when he is at bat complaning all the time. Whiny needs to either put up 5 WAR this year to even have a chance at at 100+ contract.

glory Old-Timey Member Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 Bautista is really coming off as a huge douche and extremely unprofessional during all of this. Yeah, what he did yesterday was a dick head move right before the start of ST, not to mention unprofessional with him calling out ownership for no reason. Instead of talking about baseball, we are discussing this s***. He had to have done this on purpose, because he seems like a smart guy. Not sure what the motive is, though. If anything, taking shots at Rogers is only going to make them turn the media against him, and it will be a circus all year. Just a stupid, unnecessary move on his part. It's not like the Jays can trade him either since, aside from the 10/5 rights, he presents too much value on their win curve. He'd have to be moved for a comparable talent + have to agree to the swap, one being very unlikely and the other being semi-unlikely. Just have to hope he has a monster year and then take the comp pick.

At first I saw this as all business and didn't mind his comments. I'm a big fan of his. But they are starting to grate on me for the timing and some of the other reasons mentioned. I like him calling out Rogers in a way, but I want this team to win and the focus on that. As far as him giving the Jays a hometown discount that's only in hindsight. He got a big long term deal after one monster year. There was risk on both sides.
