Korean people go to the ballpark not only to watch a game, but also to cheer.

 

I think this kind of culture is good for driving some young fans into the game.

I heard MLB is losing so many younger fans to other sports like soccer..

Many people say baseball is boring, but it won't be boring if you go to ballpark in Korea.

 

I wish some of those cheers can be done in some ballparks in the MLB.. (Like flashlight one)

The only creative cheer I could see in the MLB is the Tomahawk Chop by the Atlanta Braves.

Watching baseball in Korea is way more fun than watching it in North America. This idea that you arent a real baseball fan unless you watch and analyze each pitch never makes sense to me.

 

If the play on the field is going to be the same either way then give me the loud, energetic crowd instead of the stale one. Until they got in contention watching Jays games live wasnt very super awesome.

 

Cheergirls, chants, songs for players etc... that's just good stuff to keep the crowd in it. I saw games the home team was down 8 runs in the ninth and everyone stayed and were still cheering in the stadium. Of course it doesnt hurt that in Korea you can bring in your own food and beer. Thats clearly a game changer.

 

 

 

** edit to note that I mean on average. Games in NY or games when teams are selling out to loud crowds (see Torontolast year) are great in NA.

This reminds me of early TFC games. Putrid, putrid teams but the atmosphere was amazing the first little bit. Winning does change everything, though.

Back in my day, you didn't need girls dancing around in little skimpy costumes, a giant mega-TV, contests every 3 minutes, and non-stop vendor solicitations.

All you needed was two teams, a place to sit, and an announcer.

There are few non-Korean players playing in the Korean league (Including former Blue Jays Eric Thames and Zach Stewart).

Many of them said active cheers during the game is exciting.

Thames is living the life. In MLB he was barely a AAAA player, over there he has Fame Prestige all the PEDs he can handle and an unlimited supply of Korean Groupies.
