They changed the rules last offseason, so that starting in 2016 newly drafted players could be traded in the offseason following they are drafted. The Trea Turner rule.

The best part about this is that replacing Inciarte with Miller makes Arizona worse. Pushing two of De La Rosa, Anderson, and Godley out of the rotation to make room for Miller is probably less than a 1-win boost, while removing Inciarte and his 6 fWAR over the last two years leaves them replacement-level in a corner OF spot with no CF backup. Also they lose two years of control. And an elite prospect. And another top-50 prospect.

 

This trade is hilarious.

Should of made Greinke the GM in his contract too. He would never of made this stupid of a trade.

Dansby Swanson, Aaron Blair and Ender Inciarte is the core of the sort of deal I was expecting to see for Jose Fernandez, not Shelby Miller.
