I have a lot of friends who really follow hockey, I follow enough to keep up in conversations. I get really annoyed when friends say things like "It doesn't matter how much you pay them 3 years from now if you win once!" in regards to baseball moves, when I suggest trades and signings in hockey that I think would be bad they lose their s*** because I don't understand hockey. How I wish they could see it from my perspective.

David Price‘s agent admits he’s surprised that the Toronto Blue Jays did not offer the free agent left-hander a contract and says his client was open to a return to the club.

“The Blue Jays were the biggest surprise. David would have absolutely gone back there,” Bo McKinnis told Jim Bowden on SiriusXM Radio Sunday evening. “That was the toughest part of this and I’m surprised we did not get an offer.

“He had a wonderful time there and the bulk of the club is back there and he would’ve enjoyed being with them.”

Is someone out to sabotage the new regime in the eyes of the public? There is just so much negative press purposely designed to rile up a fanbase.

Toronto restaurant owners who want AA back

I'm tired of hearing about this

Yes, he might have signed here if we'd beaten the Red Sox offer

However, there was no way we were going to give him that and I'm glad we didn't

Let's move on

Such a stupid argument. As I've been telling my dumb bandwagon friends; even if the Jays offer $28M AAV, think about how much money Price would be leaving on the table. No one was outbidding the Red Sox. Period.

I'm not even sad he left as a pitcher, I'm actually more sad that David the "man" is gone. He was definition intangibles.

There should be a huge asterisk with the notation "if the Jays matched the Red Sox offer". If he signed for 28M here that's 21M he'd be leaving, I don't see that happening. More importantly, even though Beeston and AA are gone, I don't see this front office handing out too many 7 year deals either, especially at 30M+ per year. I'm guessing if they did offer Price a deal it wouldn't have included a 7th year, so that's even more guaranteed money he'd be leaving behind.
