BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 This is quite a bit different from Kane. This is Reye's wife. And she went to the medical center with injuries. Are you saying she beat herself up? I'm not saying anything other than it is an allegation. The facts will come out in due course. Admit it doesn't look good but rushing to judgement over a news story is something Im going to try to avoid.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Legal guilt and factual guilt are not congruent Yes, of course, but let's not pretend you really know exactly what happened.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Ummmm, how long before some jackass starts using his mug shot as their avatar??
TheHurl Site Manager Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Using victim seems to have been an accident. His general point is correct, though. Look at Bill Cosby, his life is ruined solely based on allegations. You know Cosby admitted to it right?

IBTrini Verified Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Holy crap This surprises me greatly Yeppp, he was the least likely person I would have thought would do something like this. Anyway, he is supposed to be presumed innocent til a guilty verdict is handed down. If he is found guilty, would he be able to play any games in Canada when his team comes here? Would he be inadmissible? Not that it matters to me, just curious.
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Ummmm, how long before some jackass starts using his mug shot as their avatar?? I don't think anyone would stoop that low. That's just mean and disrespectful.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 If you want to live in a world where guilt and innocence are judged via twitter, that's cool. Not where I'd prefer to go, though. Jian Ghomeshi may be a better example of twitter verdicts ruining someone's career. He never would have been let go even 10 years ago.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Seriously??? Patrick Kane being a victim was a poor choice of words. What I meant was that nobody won in that case and everybody lost.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 I could smell this thread before I even clicked it.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 You know Cosby admitted to it right? He didn't admit to raping anyone. He admitted having extramarital sex and paying the women off as to not tell his wife/the media. He admitted the qualuudes thing but it doesn't seem much different from buying a woman a shot.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Do people actually trust the legal system to determine if someone is actual guilty or not? Look no further than the recent Greg Hardy story... Don't know the numbers but isn't it like 80% of domestic abuse/sexual assault go unreported and only like 10%? get convicted if an arresst is even made? Why would Reyes's wife lie about him choking her into a glass door? In the end it would be her family who loses as Reyes will be suspended without pay.

From what's being reported, it happened in the lobby of the hotel in front of witnesses who called the police. This isn't even a he said/she said case.

Talking in a baseball context you said 'Bill Cosby' and I was like "who, the hell is that? Sounds like he played in the 70's."

I didn't read too much into the Greg Hardy story but in general I think in certain areas the American justice system is f***ed. People lie all the time. Could be out of revenge or maybe they're just crazy. It's not the first time a woman is charged for making a false statement to police in regards to a domestic dispute. Again, I'm just taking a neutral point of view on this. Best we wait until the details get fleshed out. It's the same approach Manfred is taking.

I could post a lot of facts and stats here but it's cool, you have an anecdote so she's probably lying.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 You're some special stupid. Which part is stupid? The first part is entirely factual. The second is an opinion based on the fact that methaqualone was very commonly used as a recreational drug during the disco craze.
leaffie Verified Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 The difference being a shot is taken with a woman's consent. Quaaludes are given to these women without their knowledge.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Probably didn't happen. Wife looking to cash out.
leaffie Verified Member Posted November 11, 2015 Posted November 11, 2015 Probably didn't happen. Wife looking to cash out. You must be trolling. The police are called, they treat her, and yet she still has to go to the hospital. Sure thing, she did it to herself.

From a TIME article: “There is no acknowledgement that he gave the quaalude to someone underage, or to a woman who wasn’t consenting,” Brafman told TIME. “Quaalude was the love drug of choice in those years. Doctors were lawfully prescribing it in those years.”
