You guys can use this as a guideline and make your adjustments as necessary. This was pretty fun last year and was a good way to follow the offseason.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I don't see the Jays going after Jordan Zimmermann. Also, 5 years/$80 million is a lot for Mike Leake and Shark lol.

fireballW Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Kind of wish we were the winning bid for Park. Some Koreans can really play and he seems pretty legit to me. Watched him a few years ago a couple times. It'd be ideal if he was a lefties but I think the one year with our offense will give him a year to warm up to the MLB until EE potentially leaves. As far as finding value, I think he is one of the better chances.

Me either, seems a bit silly. I'll take Estrada 3/$30 or close to it instead of that. I could see Shark getting around $75M. Think that's a decent price for him.
skicross1 Verified Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I'd be pretty content with zimmerman and estrada , stroman , zimm ,estrada, sanchez/osuna , hutch . With our offense I like our chances, just need middle relief and either osuna orsanchez to close . Love to see delabar have a resurgance and be a back end arm .
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 Heyward seems low at 10/200 unless its front loaded with an opt out. I wonder how much extra the Blue Jays would have to pay him for him to consider playing on the turf.

Baseball Prospectus guy obviously quoting someone he knows in the industry. Hmmm.

I wonder if the success of big market teams that were terrible in the past drives up the market (Blue Jays, Cubs, Mets). Not only would those teams have more $ because of extra revenue but with revenue sharing there would theoretically be more $ for everyone.

We've been the definition of a perpetual .500 team for 20 years. Your overall point has some merit though.

There is no denying MLB team values have increased dramatically the last couple of years as a whole so that probably has the biggest effect.
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I'd be happy with Zimmerman on our team. But we also need to replace EE/Joey for 2017 and beyond... Upton or Heyward would be nice to have... yeah, I can dream lol, it's Christmas soon
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I wanna see Kazmir, Iwakuma, and Madson here.
Nafro Verified Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 I wanna see Kazmir, Iwakuma, and Madson here. Kazmir and Madson. No Kuma, I want our draft pick.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Kazmir and Madson. No Kuma, I want our draft pick. I'd rather have kuma for 3 years than a draft pick.
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Kazmir and Leake are good for me. Both will be decent 2/3 options and we keep our draft picks.
baseballsss Verified Member Posted November 9, 2015 Posted November 9, 2015 Is anyone setting up the FA contest?

Ya and he has the Jays picking up all three Cueto, Shark, and Chen..... Very very doubtful. I could see them MAYBE picking up 2
THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Ya and he has the Jays picking up all three Cueto, Shark, and Chen..... Very very doubtful. I could see them MAYBE picking up 2 Yuk. I'd rather go for Kazmir and Leake to avoid shelling a pick.
fireballW Verified Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Not maple boner related but is Morneau to risky for 1B? IFIf if if he could stay healthy he would fit beautifully. MLB trade rumors has him at 1/8. Maybe even 2/12 could be pulled off to bridge the gap to Tellez. Keeps Bautista in the outfield but I doubt they move him anyway.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Yuk. I'd rather go for Kazmir and Leake to avoid shelling a pick. As Far as Lefties go their numbers a very very similar(Kazmir, Chen).... Leak is more of a ground ball pitcher and might be a better fit in the east and Cueto might be relatively cheap due to his performance later on in the year and possible wonky shoulder..... Maybe worth the risk depending on the going rate.

I could see them MAYBE picking up 2 He added a note: Note: You'll notice that the Blue Jays are listed as the best fit for three starters, Cueto included. However, this does not mean that I believe Toronto will sign all three, just that they will be aggressive among the second tier of starting pitchers

Maybe worth the risk depending on the going rate. Knowing Shapiro, I'm guessing he wants to keep those picks, so he probably only goes after pitchers who were traded this year. This is the group of Price, Cueto, Kazmir, Leake, Latos, etc. Of that group I like Kaz and Latos the best since they're likely the most valuable with the contracts/production they'd demand.
