I was more surprised than upset, I didn't think there was any way that AA would walk away from the team he built. But now, reading the tea leaves, this scenario makes a lot of sense to me. This is the perfect opportunity for AA to get a big fat payday.

How does this even make sense? According to you guys it is when he traded his prospects that were his worse moves. From what I saw he is one of the hardest working and creative GMs I've ever seen. Couple that with the clear ability he showed in building a farm system and it is very possible that AA would be MORE suited to have a low budget.

It's a bit of semantics, really. Dan Jennings was initially the Marlins GM this year. After they fired their manager, he became manager as well. On Oct 6, he was replaced as field manager. On Oct 29, he was fired as General Manager. On Oct 29, Anthopoulos officially turned down an extension from the Blue Jays, citing "the wrong fit." Regardless of title, there is an opening in the Marlins front office, and a connection between Anthopoulos and Loria (Expos).

More to the point, nobody is better with a smaller payroll. If you can succeed with a small payroll, that's great, but you can always do more with a bigger payroll and the same methodology.

Funny. But still AA has been saying this for a long time, not just recently. He used strong language in the past saying how he really dislikes dealing with those types of things, and his interest is in baseball. You can decide to just plain not believe that if you want I guess.
