Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 I didn't say he wasn't their best pitcher. I said it was far from a certainty. Dickey has won a Cy Young Happ and Estrada were two of the best pitchers in the league the last half of last season Floyd and Penny have had multiple 4+ fWAR seasons. For about the tenth time.I don't think it's likely that Stroman pitches his way off the team.Or that all or any of the rest pitch so much better than him that they might afford to keep in in the minors to start the year.Just saying stranger things have happened. It most certainly is the closest thing to a certainty in the starting rotation.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 The only feasible way Stroman isnt in the rotation to open the season is if he gets injured......

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Make sure you yell, he can't hear you. Actually, let me correct you. For most people with hearing issues, yelling is worse. It's not the volume, it's the clarity. You might speak very clearly, but the damaged nerves means its somewhat mumbo jumbo by the time it gets to the brain.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted March 12, 2016 Posted March 12, 2016 Make sure you yell, he can't hear you. That's not cool, Spank

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Pretty excited about this years pen to be honest. We have reliable late inning arms. It might not be the sexy names like Yankees have. But if were leading after 6 we have to feel pretty good closing out games. Will be interesting to see if who fills out the rest of the pen but plenty of quality options.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2016 Posted March 13, 2016 Shapiro will not lose Biagini for keep Aaron in the bigs. No way.

Not elite (sans Cecil the way he pitched 2nd half) but pretty solid partnered with this offense. Rotation feels the same. Floyd is my dark horse 5th SP. Shapiro interview yesterday on Sanchez was telling. Loved it. "You can't just have a power arm at this level".

Shapiro interview yesterday on Sanchez was telling. Loved it. "You can't just have a power arm at this level". Sanchez is such a polarizing player right now. So interested to see what the Jays do with him if he isn't in the rotation to start the year. I think there's a real chance that Floyd is the #5, Chavez starts in the rotation as Estrada gets up to speeds (yes I know he said he'd be ready for the start of the year) and Sanchez starts in the AAA rotation. This allows them to keep Biagini and get a look at Leon early on. I think that makes a lot of sense, but Gibby would probably lose his s*** if Sanchez wasn't on the team (as would the "average" fan who would argue you take your best team north with you - completely ignoring we're going to need 20+ relivers this year and thus finding ways to hold talented guys is essential).

There hasn't been a peep about Sanchez starting the year in Buffalo, so I don't know if that's an option they are discussing. Edited March 13, 2016 by glory

I could be making this up, but I thought there was an article or two about him possibly starting in buffalo about a week ago. I would like to here the shapiro interview as well. Who interviewed him?

Nothing in the media has ever said anything about Sanchez starting in Buffalo, just a general consensus of what people would like to see on here, if he were to not make the rotation. They have spoke about players with options though. I'd like to hear that Shapiro interview also.

He's never going to be an elite K/BB guy, but Shapiro has proven in the past that he sees the value in groundball pitchers, unlike most people on this forum.
