Floortom Verified Member Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Jays didn't deserve to win anyway. The big bats turned into pussy cats in the playoffs and they were the worst team in the last two series with RISP. You can't repeatedly choke like that and not have it bite you in the ass. But yes, we hit screwed by the ump in the 9th unquestionably. Look at fangrsphs. Insane

KC's starting pitching, bullpen, defense and situational hitting were a lot more consistent throughout the series. They were the better team.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Good luck to the Royals in the World Series.. this is basically their last chance to win a title, as Zobrist, Cueto, Young and Gordon are free agency, and the roster's going to get beyond KC's price range.

Hate this so much. know the feeling. hardly slept. watched Revere comments this am. its not sour grapes....he is right. even with some of our missed chances/mistakes we were right there to tie and take lead. so unfortunate. got to get out of my stupor today. I think this is called "withdrawal"
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Any baseball fan should. Hell, I was the first one to call BS on the awful ball four to Bautista in Game 5. I immediately turned to my girlfriend and said, "******** - clearly a strike - the ump didn't even need an excuse to ring up Bautista and he missed it anyway". The only people who don't call the ninth inning strike zone BS are Royals fans and the "Well That's Life" crowd. No that's not life. That's ********. Higher standards please, loser. You aren't usually one to bitch and this is spot on. So frustrating to be that close even after planning not our best and have the ump impact critical ABs.

I think this is called "withdrawal" Went to sleep with a lump in my throat, woke up with it still there. I feel lost and will likely feel that way for a week or so before I start feeling normal again. Living and dying with every pitch for all these months takes its toll but now it's time for offseason recovery.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Was going asked to bunt and decided to take the 1st pitch on his own or was he told to take the 1st pitch and bunt on 2nd?

I get that was a huge part of the game, but the part that really has me is the 9th. The whole situation and the umpiring, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHGFH

I hate sac bunting, but with their pen and us behind and snake bit on scoring with Goins up, I was ok moving them over to try and tie. I wasn't ok with half pregnant don't bunt/bunt. not scoring there hurt a lot.
Effit Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 Hope they get swept. Yep. I'm bitter and vindictive and don't care who knows it.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 David Schoenfield SweetSpot blogger Lots of crying about home plate ump Jeff Nelson. OK, the 2-1 strike on Ben Revere was awful. Remember: Studies show umpires do favor the home team, so that's one reason home-field advantage can be important. Also: Jose Bautista threw to the wrong base. Also: Blue Jays went 0-12 with runners in scoring position. ESPN MLB

Well boys I have a suggestion. Since our team is out. We can still celebrate by creating accounts on the Royals message board and do some major league trolling So this way the loss isn't as depressing. Revenge Therapy Anyone?

admin Site Manager Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 I tried to tune out those idiots as much as I could, but at some point I heard "there wasn't enough interference" which just sounds weird. So you know he interfered, but...not enough? Whatever, I guess I just don't get it, and at this point, those ******** calls in the ninth are pissing me off even more. How was there not enough intereference, he grabbed the f***ing ball! lol
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 How was there not enough intereference, he grabbed the f***ing ball! lol Not just that, but just the fact that even a little interference is interference. Frustrating. And yeah, the kid blatantly reached over. I'm going to propose an extreme thing: On home run calls, there shouldn't have to be conclusive evidence to disprove an on-field call. How about just make the correct call? There's no f***ing way the umpire could have had a decent enough look at the play, the wall, or the catch. Go back to the review room with a blank slate and go from there. Don't consider any close HR call as gospel because anything that ends up over the wall looks like a home run. Unless the kid leaps over the player, there's no way an ump can reliably call interference.

The 9th inning bad call on Revere kept me waking up last night; that angered me. I don't think that Bautista threw to the wrong base as stated by David Schoenfield, he was trying to limit Hosmer to a single (which he did) when he threw to Tulowitzki at 2nd. Martin said after the game that Tulowitzki didn't get a good grip on the ball and that a better throw probably would have gotten Cain at the plate. The Blue Jays had so many chances to score runs and couldn't come through, except for Bautista. Dalton Pompey showed that he needs to be on the major league roster in 2016. I had forgotten how fast he was. Perhaps he can start the 2016 season as the 4th outfielder and then a spot will open up as it did for Pillar this season. This has been an exciting season and I am looking forward to next season. The post season experience should give the Blue Jay players and their fans a lot of confidence in 2016.

Jose did the textbook play on the fly. Only in hindsight did he throw to the wrong base. Cain's speed and the suicide run for home were factors that Jose really couldn't have fairly been expected to account for. If he threw to first, Cain would have held, and here's how the conversation would go: "Cain would have stopped anyway, but now you just gave Hosmer the extra base! Terrible baseball fundamentals!"

Suppose we don't get f***ed on those strike calls in the 9th and Revere slaps a base hit through a drawn in IF and we win this 5-4. The narrative becomes "Jays overcome adversity on HR call...use speed and hit when it matters most to pull off miracle comeback against best pen in the business to force Game 7". Those calls mattered.
