Anyone know if the games are being broadcast in French in the first place? I'm seriously tempted to switch if that's an option. I don't love Rodger Brulotte but I'll take a Hawk Harrelson style flagrant homer (basically what he is) over the stream of diahrea coming from Harold Reynolds.

In a NY second. I'd take Fergie Olver over Reynolds. And yes.....his calls are so over the top but they sound more legit in French lol. Reynolds is beyond annoying. I find it interesting that watching games I even have casual bandwagon fans texting me saying "who is this fking guy?!". They pick up on it.

I wonder if we should flip flop Donaldson and Bats in the lineup. Bautista isn't hitting the greatest right now but he's drawn 7 walks already this series.

Probably too late to tinker with the lineup.. but it's a thought.

He reached base 3 times last nite and came within a foot of an oppo taco.

I suppose as a former politician, your French is pretty good?

Don't want to be paranoid or accusatory. I hate to take away from a guys performance unwarranted. But Im puzzled.

How does Volquez add a consistent 3-5 MPH to his FB in later innings late in the season? Whats the policy in the playoffs on testing guys? Is there any?

Yost says its just adrenaline from the playoff atmosphere. Maybe for a few pitches early but I don't it would be sustainable.

Should Navarro start game 6?

If you're going by postseason numbers....

Martin 60 wRC+, 10.3 BB%, 24.1 K% in 29 PA

Navarro -17 wRC+, 7.7 BB%, 30.8 K% in 13 PA

Or reg season:

Martin 114 wRC+, 10.5 BB%, 20.9 K% in 507 PA

Navarro 84 wRC+, 8.9 BB%, 15.1 K% in 192 PA

Or Steamer projections:

Martin 105 wRC+, 10.9 BB%, 20.7 K%

Navarro 95 wRC+, 7.0 BB%, 15.9 K%

Whatever method you choose to use, the answer is Martin, and that's ignoring his superior defense.

They test constantly.

I have thinking/and talking about exactly this since game one as that is some where around 4-5 % consistent improvement in performance and he then has a big let down around the 6th?

It wasn't his velocity that let him down in the 6th. He was still pumping 97-98 to Jose. The ump gave us a break on that call.

So he took steroids at the start of the playoffs and added 3-5 MPH on his fastball in a couple of weeks? I'm not a doctor but I don't think that's how it works.

I beleive his velocity spike came a month ago (I think North posted something to that effect yesterday).

I don't know if you guys noticed but his velocity dropped to ~94 in the 4th and 5th inning. He was almost falling off every time he threw a 97-98 heater to Bautista.

To me he was clearly on fumes.

I love how he calls runs "points". Wrong sport dude, and you played it.

I don't know man.....just asking the question. If you have an answer for the V spike let me know.

The Steroids required for that much velocity increase would most likely be in the (1 Month + detection time range) I highly doubt anyone would be dumb enough to take a steroid cycle mid season.

it would explain his balding though ;)

He lost control of the zone and started to throw balls as witnessed by the walks. A stimulant could be a factor with a short 1/2 life (which could explain the drop off in the 6th) which would give him the extra speed and control. ....Also I can't remember when but one of the announcers mentioned smelling salts on the KC bench..........That's a Nitrate and a stimulant......

I think it's a real debate to have. Martin has been very subpar.

I think Kobe Bryant is the greatest basketball player of all time. I think it's a real debate to have.

You could ask the question about Liam Hendriks too.

You can. But at least he is a converted SP now pitching for 1 to 2 innings and he has been doing it all season. Different than Volquez.

He might have done it in the offseason. Anyways, I don't really care if players use steroids, heck w/e Hendriks is doing I hope he shares with all of our pitchers!

On a different note Loup is off for family leave is their any provisions to add to the 25 man bench.....say Burhle?

Can't add anyone unless he is injured.

He might and I hope he has been duly tested. I care about a level playing field and consistent rules. As a Dad I'd prefer a non roid environment. Played football and saw what it did to some guys. Wasn't good.

Thanks for doing the research. I think ECJF is just trolling though
