BTW I'm not sure if they mentioned or showed it on the broadcast, but when the debris started raining on the field Bautista was absolutely livid. He went over to CF and angrily gestured to a fan next to the Budweiser sign on the 200 level.

And then it started to rain again later in the inning and he threw his cap down in frustration.

Because it makes the Toronto look like s***.... The right call was made but fans were still acting like ass hats.... I was pissed to even though i am not from T.O it makes our fan base look like absolute s***.

Sam Dyson on The Flip: “Jose needs to calm that down, just kind of respect the game a little more. He’s a huge role model for the younger generation that’s coming up playing this game, and I mean he’s doing stuff that kids do in Wiffle ball games and backyard baseball. It shouldn’t be done"

I hate the whole respect the game ********...I do think Jose's an ******* but let people celebrate.

I believe in respecting the game however there is a need to keep things in perspective when analyzing situations. I do not believe his actions were deliberate so he gets a pass from me. They were in the middle of a "Do or Die" game laced with a lot of controversy up to that point; his entire focus was solely on the ball when he swung and launched it; in a fraction of a second he reacted to what just transpired; he is human and it is not as easy to curb that heightened, explosive feeling of euphoria. It's akin to watching a fuse burn (as the ball left the bat in a long arc into the air) and experiencing the big explosion at the end (fans/team-mates/coaches' roar of approval.)

I know what you mean about the role model image however sometimes it's just not humanely possible to contain excitement in that sort of situation.

Defense played a huge role as well in the final outcome. Pillar's "Swoop and scoop" and Goins plays went a long way in keeping momentum on the Jays side while the Texas defense made them crash. Encarnacion's HR was really a statement shot - don't play with the birds. Bautista's HR on the other hand was just plain ole apocalyptic in nature for Texas. Bautista, the fire-breathing monster, released all of his inner turmoil on that little ball. There was a lot of controversy up to that point which created a bone of contention however the monster made a happy meal of it in the end. That moment can only, in it truest sense, be described as bitter-sweet - Bitter for Texas and oh so sweet for BlueJays. Those are just some of the contributors since Osuna and the others all played their parts admirably. It was a special day in Jaysland - from ceremonial pitch to the final out. Also, love how they came out to celebrate with the fans - what a fitting end to a highly charged game.

Both starting pitchers had somewhat laboured but productive starts and each did enough to earn a win but the Jays outfielded the Rangers by a large margin and that was the biggest difference.

Osuna was El Perfecto in the series going 5.2IP 0H 0ER 6SO and he's only 20 flippin years old. Just amazing.

It's just awesome how the two kids we were worried about the most going in have performed the best out of the pen, Osuna and Sanchez. With Cecil going down they couldn't pick a better time to regain their form.

...man... still taking it all in the morning after. Partied all night last night and I have to say that was the most emotionally charged and exciting single sports game that I've probably ever seen.

Bring on the Royals! I've been waiting for this ever since that game I went to where they cleared the bench. It was destined for this.

Texas fans will talk about the bat flip. there team does no wrong.

Any Texas fan who feels it is necessary to talk about that bat flip needs to have a reality check. What they should be focusing on is the non-plays which lead up to that particular situation. That action did not cause them to lose the game and get knocked out of the ALDS.

What I do remember about Texas is their happy-go-lucky attitude before the game started, their exuberance displayed when they scored the controversial run, and of course their unbelievable meltdown - up 2-0 in a 5-game series and the multiple errors in that inning - some of them may have nice hair but all of them sure ain't ready.

Yeah, baseball is awesome.

I'm just glad the Martin mistake was inconsequential. It was the right call, but deciding a serie likexthatcwoukd have been awful.

Can you imagine how devastated everyone (jays fans/players/coaches/manager/the FO) would have felt if that was the deciding moment in the loss? Nahhhhh, won't waste another thought on that now. It was more a lapse in concentration and one I feel he will most probably never make again. Yeahhhhh, baseball is awesome!

Thats fine but the only thing i was thinking when this was going on is a forfeit which would not have be out of the question but Toronto fans are so f***ing dumb sometimes that they would think it would be unjust. I would like to know how close they were to making that decision.

Was Sam Dyson throwing two temper tantrums and causing two bench clearing incidents respecting the game?

No, so please go over to their board and tell them about it politely. *only joking of course*

Maybe I missed some comments from Dyson but I didn't think his comments were too over the top.

However, its easy to cherry pick the other team's reactions when you just give up a bomb. Nobody made him the sheriff for "respecting the game". Jose's pimping was all about the moment....defiance in the face of another bizarre call that just went against them etc. It was a monster shot in a huge spot in the spotlight in a crazy game. He took it personally and I cant say I would like it either.

His actions with Tulo he makes out to be good sportsmanship based. Tulo is an amped up competitive warrior in the midst of a heated game and Dyson just caused a walk off beaking off about Jose. There was no need to touch him and do that regardless. It was a provocative act in that moment.

Amazing game....the Rangers are licking their wounds so I cut him some slack. This is a team that had a WS ring locked up against the Cards who were down to their last strike 6 times, and let it slip away and now this. Its got to sting.

Ya, and I was worried about him but my god he was good. Jesus. His Ks came on the slider. Both Martin and Navvy did a good job catching him and he the spots.

What a great win by the Blue Jays.

I don't agree with the call in the top of the 7th inning. I think that Choo intentionally stuck his arm and hand out with the hope that Martin would hit him; that would be against the rule. I rewound the game a few times and at no other time did I see Choo make such a deliberate movement (it wasn't part of his normal batting ritual as Reynolds stated).

The rule is shown below. Even though Choo was in the batters box, the umpire can still decide that he deliberately intended to interfere with the throw.

In any case, the ruling on Choo made the win that much sweeter.

Thank god we can move on and don't need to debate this for decades!!!!!!! It would be awful.

So true. When I re-watched the gm less amped up the play by Pillar...the two Goins made up the middle and the barehanded play by JD(so much tougher than he makes it look to do) changed the game. It been our recipe since Tulo came over. Tulo didn't have his best game on either D or O but I love him out there and look forward to him having a big ALCS.

I like bat flips. Even when they are against the Jays, of course I like them even more when one of our guys does them.

Dyson is a dumpster diving trash bag bitch. He has nasty stuff, but got lit up and got his period as a result. Some of his teammates have had some epic (Fielder anyone??) bat flips as well, so if he has an issue with "respecting the game", he doesnt gave far to look.

Our "fans" did act like s*** to a certain extent. Who cares though, we know most of them were not even interested in this team a few month ago....no sweat off my back the bandwagon still has room as we roll towards a WS.

I am hung over, happy but still hungry for more. This is one of those times I wished I still lived in Toronto, the city looks like its having a great f***ing time.

I don't know, just because a batter did something different that time doesn't mean he was intentionally trying to interfere, that was pretty much all on Russell throwing side arm there. Bautista does a unique stretch every 5th at bat.

What's the rule if the umpire calls dead ball and a runner keeps running anyway and scores? That seemed more controversial in my eyes.

It was memorable for sure. It wasn't a bat flip, Bautista just threw it to the side. What made it magical was the power buried deep within the bat which took on a life of its own and decided, of its own accord, that the moment really merited a bat flip. That bat can be auctioned as well!
