The "Dickey Effect" on this GDT sucks. He is our guy today like it or not (I dont) but venting is probably better in the "game 4 starter" thread? I hope he comes up big for us. Go Jays!

If there is such a Dickey effect why not start every game with Dickey sort of an opener instead of a closer

I understand the decision to start Dickey. If you can hedge a little and avoid having to use Price and Stroman in these final two games, if you advance, you have one of them available to pitch game 1 of the ALCS.

 

I know you have to get there first, but like I said, it's a small hedge. You can always pull Dickey early if you need to, but there's a more than decent chance he pitches well and the Jays get to Holland. Why not give that scenario a chance to play out with a short leash? It's about winning the world series in the end, not just the ALDS, you can't just ignore the possibility of getting to the ALCS. If you can hedge a bit, you do it.

We have destroyed him in his career but in his only start against us this year he did meh. 6 IP, 7 hits, 4 ER.

Unless he loses control and doesn't have a good one....In no logical way is Dickey the right choice over the #1 Ace we acquired for this reason.
