30% K rate in AA is atrocious for any prospect

Hiraldo is at best an up and down, AAAA player

He probably also has almost no defensive utility.

He is striking out a ton but he's a bit young for the level. He's probably nothing but who knows he's ticked up a bit

The prospect age vs. level stuff is rapidly changing. He's certainly NOT old but I dunno if he gets youth brownie points.

He's at the point where most modern MLB teams just call the player up if they check all the boxes.

Hey, I too think Hiraldo has spiked, but that power is sexy. But I think he's a nothingburger, I'd be happy if he becomes anything, really.

Get rid of vlad . Schneider Martinez Barger will bring us to the promise land

How do you not have Horowitz in that list?

Howitz is too old

He is the same age as his comparables (offensively) were when they got started. Lyle Overbay, Matt Carpenter.

Now that he is playing in a bat-s*** crazy offensive environment (due to auto-umps not bandboxes) you can compare his numbers to Lyle Overbay in the PCL at age 25. They are the same pretty much.

I don't know then. wRC+ is meant to normalize all the variables and a 104 wRC+ isn't as outstanding as his .OPS would suggest.

Well. He had a 121 wRC+ in double a, and now 108 in triple a at the age of 21 and in a small sample size is getting past the .200 average problem.

The people missing that the Orioles are a historically special organization have missed Samuel Basallo. Just another Orioles prospect. 5th ranked in their farm system.

Except he just turned 19, made A+ before his birthday, so this is considered his year 18 season and he is exactly right where Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was and ahead of Carlos Delgado. Delgado comparison is relevant though because he is also a huge catcher, but Orioles are smart enough to have him playing first at 18, instead of starting it at 23 (after he misses 2 years).

What is happening here is unprecedented. Jackson Holliday could be coming up with a Delgado/Guerrero level prospect. Likely Jackson comes up first than Basallo becomes the 1 overall. So basically they will have like 5 years of holding the 1st overall prospect.

Seems like that front office change a few years back really railed the train back on its tracks and now are going to win the division on a very modest payroll. Here's hoping the same thing happens here, except not having a modest payroll.

Tiedemann with 9k in 3ip.

Roden with a hr and 2hits so far. He's one of favourite guys to follow in the minors.

Posted
Roden was also 2 for 2 in the last game that got cancelled due to a rain out, so he completely lost out on those hits. He is crushing right now.

Tiedemann now with 11 ks in 3 and 2 thirds innings pitched. Every out has been a strikeout.

Just keep lefty hitter stats from New Hampshire in the "nice to see but ..." category. Super short porch in RF inflates a lot

BA apparently wrote this about Roden yesterday:

"He has elite plate skills and he’s an above-average defender in a corner outfield spot. He’s really not that different from Nolan Schanuel even from a swing and setup perspective. That said, like Schanuel his EVs are pretty below-average. I think it’s a nice hit tool driven corner outfield profile that can unlock some more power in the next 4-5 years."

Michael Dominguez tonight:

5 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 10 K

Gave up 2 HR's which is now 6 in 22 IP, but he has otherwise been good since being promoted.

Adam Macko might be back.

So far tonight: 4 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K

Heard a good interview with him on SN650 this past weekend. He seems like a smart ball-player.

Not really a name on any lists anywhere but OF/IF Devonte Brown was just moved up to New Hampshire from Vancouver. Probably temporary with the shuffling they had to do with the injuries to Bo and Chappy, but hard not to root for the guy. He was passed on in the 2022 draft after his college career was over and the Jays were the only team to make him an offer.

He's 23, and 5'9" 207. Sounds like the OF version of Davis Schneider physically. Not an outstanding year at Vancouver but he does have 14 HRs. Went 1-3 with a double, walk and a K in his first game at AA

Can't be anything but impressed by a guy to make AA in his second MiLB season after being a non drafted player. He's played all 3 OF positions and even a bit of 2b and 1b. Heplayed some 3b in college but not yet in MiLB.

Orelvis 3-5 tonight with a HR. No K's.

Palmegiani was promoted to Buffalo as well.

Orelvis was a double short of the cycle.

Austin Martin seems to have turned it around in AAA recently. Probably won’t be a star but should at least get some games in the majors this year or next.

Off Top 100 prospect Jared Jones:

Really makes you wonder what else he has to do.
