Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Slashing .272/.342/.515 as a 21 year old in AAA! He's clearly a low BABIP guy, but people who actually believed that the .217 mark from last year was real were out of their minds. He was always primed for something of a bounceback this year and never left the top 100 prospects In my view.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Top 50 EOS. I could see it happening if he keeps up the performance in AAA. The hitting environment there is pretty absurd though, so the numbers aren't quite as good as they seem. Look at Ernie Clement.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Slashing .272/.342/.515 as a 21 year old in AAA! That's great, but his wRC+ was still 88 in AAA before tonight.

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Rust man, don't sweat it. Still getting K's so that's good, just walking too many and getting hit around a bit. Not worried, it was just always awesome to watch him destroy all the hitters they put in front of him.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Tiedemann's important numbers are off the charts good. He needs to get some f***ing innings though, ugh. AFL for sure.
AMS528 Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 That's great, but his wRC+ was still 88 in AAA before tonight. And it's 104 now with his improved slash line. What on earth is that offensive environment?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 And it's 104 now with his improved slash line. What on earth is that offensive environment? Everyone hits a s*** ton at Buffalo/AAA it seems. I mean it's great to see, especially at his age and given how poorly he's played/adjusted when moving up a level in the past. He somehow has a BABIP >.300 and the power numbers are there, but we do need to take the results with a grain of salt. Nathan Lukes is a .331/.410/.543 BEAST in AAA this year.

Triple A might actually be worse than AA.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 Triple A might actually be worse than AA. In terms of what?
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 He means in terms of prospect talent. The pitching rosters in AAA are generally pretty s*****. A sprinkling of actual prospects but for the most part it is older arms or fringe "prospects" who are 25/26 years old
Captain_Obvious Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 In terms of what? Mitch White is in AAA. This automatically makes AAA the worst level in baseball.
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 24, 2023 Posted August 24, 2023 When they reduced the number of players in the minors (due to the increased wages) it threw the upper minors out of whack. Seems like AA has more prospects now, and AAA has more scubs.

Seems like AA has more prospects now, and AAA has more scubs. That's often been the case. However, AAA is typically full of AAAA players and veteran minor leaguers. Guys who really know what they are doing (albeit with less talent than the "prospects" in AA). Obviously the Bisons play in a ton of bandboxes though because an .857 OPS is only good for a 104 wRC+

I'd be shocked if he doesn't go, same for Barriera who's down with Bicep Soreness, 3 seperate arm injuries this year, I am disappoint.

It's graded slightly as a pitchers park, though?
MikeM3 Verified Member Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 AAA is rookie mode this year for a variety of reasons
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 It's graded slightly as a pitchers park, though? I don't know then. wRC+ is meant to normalize all the variables and a 104 wRC+ isn't as outstanding as his .OPS would suggest.

It's 106 but you're right. Maybe his splits are insane, the PCL is a hitters haven, so away from Sahlen would be my guess, IDK.

It had been 104 the day before but he had another two hit game. No denying his numbers relative to his age though. They're great.

metafour Verified Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Miguel Hiraldo has been on an absolute tear. Playing himself back into intrigue (if not just trade fodder) 3 for 5 with 2 HR's (Grand Slam) tonight. Also made an impressive play at 2B. Roden: 2 for 3, HR, 2 BB Jimenez: 2 for 4, BB
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted August 26, 2023 Posted August 26, 2023 Ya it seems like hiraldo is a prospect worth watching again. https://www.milb.com/video/miguel-hiraldo-s-two-homer-game?t=playerid-677599
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2023 Author Posted August 26, 2023 Sure hope so (re: Hiraldo). It's not often you see a guy suck with vigor for basically 4 years, then snap out of it again.
