Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2023 Author Posted June 13, 2023 I said teenagers and guys in their early 20's. I didn't realize I needed to clarify I wasn't referring to 13 year olds. I will do better next time. Lots of young guys in my office rocking mustaches now on a full time basis. Must be all the gluten, meat, and lack of avocado that was holding the rest of us back in our late teens/early 20's then. I sport a thick ass beard now but couldn't come close to that level of density until I was well into my 20s.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Stop, just stop! Spanky, you are hijacking threads with your 20 year old online feuds again. It's so easy to ignore each other. One rule, if it's not about baseball don't hit send. Only reasonable, response to this is "You're right, I am sorry". lol... I ignored the f*** and he doesn't stop, all he does is bother me and complains about administration, but hey, call me out, bro.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 The Bisons are having a big day at the plate today. Jansen went 3 for 5 and looks ready to return. Davis Schneider went 4 for 5 with 2 bombs and a walk today. He's up to a .958 OPS in AAA now. Otto Lopez and Horwitz had nice games as well. I wonder what specific changes he made to his swing, dude is absolutely driving the ball now. Have noticed that a lot of these bombs are to opposite field.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Would like to see DS get a shot at some point. We could really use some pop in the lineup. This team just doesn’t hit for any power.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Pretty lengthy farm report following the article on Cheese.

He's versatile enough to be a utility type (plays 2B/3B/corner OF), could give him a shot the next time they need to call up a bench bat.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Who's a better prospect, Addison Barger or Davis Schneider?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 (edited) Who's a better prospect, Addison Barger or Davis Schneider? Barger. ETA: As of June 1st, BA has him ranked 114. Edited June 14, 2023 by Spanky99
Sorrow Verified Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 I'd like to see Schneider get a call as well but he can't play SS and Biggio has been playing well the last month or so.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Author Posted June 14, 2023 This is one of the more depressing seasons I can remember for following Jays prospects.
Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 This is one of the more depressing seasons I can remember for following Jays prospects. Especially with Tiedemann hurt. The dude was owning AA hitters.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 This is one of the more depressing seasons I can remember for following Jays prospects. Absolutely. Development is f***ing s***. Typically when the big league club isn't playing well, I would turn my attention to the minor leagues - but this year is just garbage.

Well it hasnt been all dogshit, yea not having Tiedemann and Barrierra to follow sucks but Orelvis' rebirth in May has been pretty exhilarating to follow.

I was also hoping Barger could follow up on his 2022 breakout and continue to knock on the door for a major league job.

Orelvis is literally the only prospect worth following right now - oh and Damiano Palmegiani. Even draft picks like Toman, Doughty and Josh Kasevich are all a bag of dicks.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Author Posted June 14, 2023 Can it just be bad luck.....that the vast majority of our supposed higher end prospects are underperforming.....or is there a systemic issue at hand? It's hard to believe that almost everyone of consequence is sucking. Is there something wrong with the scouting/drafting/IFA signing part....or is it the coaching/development part that's dropping the ball? ...or is it both?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 No love for Davis Schneider? The 5'9' phenom? The 28th round pick from 2017 who I'd never heard of until last week? You are correct - no love. But I mean, sure, I hope he's the next Ryne Sandberg.

I think looking at the farm and the major league performance, if we miss the post-season or have another 1st Rd exit, I think Atkins has to get replaced with Click.

Zulueta is flopping but he always had poor command. Most of the other relevant prospects are doing fine, or at least treading water. And then there are some breakouts in the system.

Has any new GM ever come in and cleaned house from the DSL to the Major League level? Based on the results, every scout and every coach at every level is f***ing atrocious at their job. That new high performance lab we built sure is paying dividends.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Which "high end" prospects are underperforming? Barger and Zulueta were pop-up guys last year. Sleepers, basically. They aren't high-end prospects. I guess the better question would have been where ARE the high end prospects? Since the Bo Bichette draft, they have not been turning ANY non-first rounders into good "high end" prospects and some of the first rounders have flopped (Martin, Groshans, etc.)
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Its kinda crazy circumstance because of Barger’s injury and Otto Lopez struggling immensely is the reason Biggo is still on the roster. And now he might have figured something out. I feel if either of those guys were healthy and performing that decision would have been made.

But I mean, sure, I hope he's the next Ryne Sandberg. If you want a breakout prospect to get excited about, in terms of being the type who may start to see top prospect buzz - Kendry Rojas. He's joined Tiedemann and Barriera to form a three headed monster of young LH starter prospects.

Laika Community Moderator Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 Tucker Toman? Josh Kasevich? too early to say anything about them Kasevish looks like he has no pop Toman has a chance to be a high end prospect but it's a long shot. Not hitting the ground running.
