Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 I can't comment on SWR too much, but Pardinho has a textbook delivery that is repeatable and should lead to excellent command as he progresses through the system. I can't recall seeing many 18 year old pitchers with such consistent command and mid 90's velo. I think that his ranking is justified. Again, Woods Richardson has fewer walks and more strikeouts at the same age, which you would think would indicate better control and stuff. His K-BB% is third best in all of A ball, and he's doing it as an 18 year old, four months older than Pardinho, who has been injured a lot.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 Why do people have this weird dislike of SWR? I dont mean the 18 yr old pitching prospect, but that he's somehow worse than all our other pitching prospects
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 3, 2019 Posted August 3, 2019 What are you talking about? Pardinho not only has a worse walk rate, but a worse K rate as well. He's certainly giving up more contact than SWR. You can say it's your opinion all you want, but you can't have an opinion on a fact. You can

I was just sharing my thoughts on Pardinho. I'd like to see a few starts from Woods-Richardson before making any judgments. Walk numbers at that level don't necessarily tell you who has better command.

You have to wait for Big Sim to be a Jay for longer and then LTBF will think he's good. He's too freshly removed from playing for a different team which automatically makes him worse.

SWR i think clearly has the higher upside though due to the K ability

If we could try to not pretend this isn't the case, that would be great

43211234 Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 I wonder if Josh Palacios gets a look in September? 24 years old now but a 130 wRC+ in AA. Maybe he has a chance to be a 4th OF if his defence plays at the big league level.

The stats probably don't tell you much at all. Literally one start could sway things. Resuming this discussion a year from now probably makes more sense.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Okay, Alford can clearly handle the Gulf Coast league...can we get him back up to AAA...maybe even the big club soon.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Okay, Alford can clearly handle the Gulf Coast league...can we get him back up to AAA...maybe even the big club soon. Why? It's been 11 PAs? Literally one game could sway things

Barkerfan23 Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Lol what a terrible hold by Rivera Lmao he wiudl have scored with ease Wtf
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Who will you take playing time away from? at AAA...anyone...if he came to the big club Fisher, because he's hurt anyway.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Why? It's been 11 PAs? Literally one game could sway things literally one game couldn't sway things. If he went 0 for 4 he'd still have an obp of .467 but nice try.

tercet Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Drove 5 hours yesterday to see junkies in the parking lot beside Erie, PA baseball stadium.. Matt Manning looked pretty good... 94-97 fb, 91 2 seam, slider and a curveball.. Hatch was 94-95 fb, 87-88 slider, never threw a third pitch, hung ALOT of sliders, seemed pretty meh.
Todd Verified Member Posted August 4, 2019 Posted August 4, 2019 Anthony Alford has no business being in the show this year. Has not earned that right yet again.

Did you see my bet regarding Bichette being a disappointment?
tercet Verified Member Posted August 5, 2019 Posted August 5, 2019 Did you see my bet regarding Bichette being a disappointment? Have you not learned anything from The Mirage or Gurribabip? Trolling me non stop and always being wrong, always overestimating SSS results, and never paying attention to process. Look Bichette is another hacker with worse power, but probably better contact skills then those two above. He still looks terrible vs r/r sliders. He is never going to be a walker, his best case scenario is something like Starlin Castro or Jose Reyes imo.

Soft if true 100 bucks he has a wRC+ of at least 90 at the end of the year minimum 50 AB's.
