Anyone know when MLB.com updates there prospect rankings for clueless individuals like myself when it comes to prospects?

The top 30 team lists update during/after trade deadline deals.

BA is most worth it the couple months leading up to the draft. There’s some content for baseball junkies throughout the year but it’s not for everybody. They follow a lot of college ball.

Two weeks ago went to Scranton for the Bisons/Railriders double header, got held up at the Niagara Falls border for "secondary inspection" for 30min~ while I got interrogated and car got checked. Anyone else have bad luck like this? In my 2018 trips no issues at Fort Erie.

I've seen maybe 50 PA of Bichette in person over the last two years I don't see what the hype is with him, hes another hacker fml

Ty Tice must be 5'5'' 5'6'', hes listed at 5'9'', lol lies

I've never really had any issues at any border crossings. Sometimes you get a bored and rude guard, but never had a secondary inspection. I've had my car x-ray'd a few times (not singled out, they take swaths of vehicles at random from time to time). I do make sure to declare everything properly though, so I'm sure that helps.

Kirk with 3 more hits (2 doubles) and a SB for good measure.

Kevin Smith no a power surge lately. His 12th homer of the season.

Pearson with a line of 3IP, 1H, 1R, 1ER, 2BB, 2K (1HR)

That's quite the K rate.

Glorified JB Woodman?

Similar K% at the same level, but Conine is at least killing the ball otherwise. He definitely needs to cut that down or he is going to get exposed as he moves up.

Woodman seems to have disappeared. Released by the Cards and no 2019 data. At least he got 2nd round money.

Looks like Woodman went back to university to get his qualifications:

I'm a dude with long hair, I/my car get checked for drugs 100% of the time.

Cal Stevenson - 130 wRC+ in the FSL. Walking as much as he's striking out (13.5%). Goes oppo as much as he goes pull side (39.4% vs. 39.8%)

Not much power to speak of so far, but the FSL is a death trap for power and he could grow into it. Hopefully he can add some loft to his swing. At the very least, he's making consistent contact and getting on base. Between that and and his scouting reports on his elite defense, he's looking exciting.

After the awful start he had, it's pretty incredible he's back up to these numbers.

.312/.407/.404, 147 wRC+ since May 1st.

Especially impressive considering he got bumped up to High-A in his first full season out of college. He's handling it exceptionally well.

Some Jays prospects movement in the latest Fangraphs rankings:

Moved Up

Jo Adell, CF, Angels and Bo Bichette, INF, Toronto Blue Jays (60 FV to 65 FV):

Both move up due to increased confidence that they’ll be stars, with the ZiPS updates Kiley received for the Trade Value Series also helping. Adell seems fully recovered from a scary ankle and hamstring injury suffered during spring training, and he’s hitting .376/.442/.673 as a 20-year-old at Double-A. Bichette has a 116 wRC+ as a 21-year-old at Triple-A and Toronto seems inclined to leave him at shortstop.

Nate Pearson, RHP, Blue Jays (50 FV to 55 FV):

Pearson belongs in the same FV tier as Sixto Sanchez as they each have monster stuff, questionable builds, and no track record of pitching for a full season.

Gabriel Moreno, C, Blue Jays (40 FV to 40+ FV):

We advise that readers take offensive performances at Lansing with a grain of salt, but Moreno is an athletic catcher with plus contact skills and we felt he belonged in the same FV tier as Phillies backstop prospect Rafael Marchan, who has a nearly identical skillset.

Moved Down

Kevin Smith, SS, Blue Jays (45 FV to 40 FV):

We juiced him up last year from 40 to 45 FV when his power and shortstop ability were joined by some contact skills, but that contact ability has regressed in his first taste of Double-A.

I don't want to give tercet any fuel, but can someone rhyme off some 'stars' that posted a wRC+ of 120 in AA (age 20) and a wRC+ of 113 in AAA (age 21)?

Just looking for some comparable bat/age/position combinations to put things in perspective for me. Thanks.

Lindor?

Amed Rosario?

Willy Adames?

Lindor was the first one I thought of and he's a great match.

2014 he has a 109 wrc+ at age 20 in AA and 2015 he has a 118 wrc+ at age 21 in AAA

I don't really have time to answer your question, I'm sure someone will, but I'd like to point out that Bo Bichette is one of three players in AAA that are 21 years old with 50+ PAs. He's the youngest player in the International League at that cutoff, and considering the fact that he's a March birthday it basically means he's a full year younger than anyone else achieving that. Other 21 year olds in AAA are Carter Kieboom, Luis Robert, Gavin Lux, Jesus Sanchez, and three of those guys were basically only promoted there a couple of weeks ago. The only younger player in AAA this season who's not some gimmick callup was Vlad Jr.

Nice.

What do you mean when you say "and considering the fact that he's a March birthday it basically means he's a full year younger than anyone else achieving that". Do you mean Carter Kieboom's birthday is in September, therefore he's 21 throughout this baseball season and you consider that his age 21 season? I never look at it that way. Kieboom turns 22 this year...this is his age 22 season IMO. Perhaps there's some unwritten rule about that sort of thing.

I guess what I'm getting at is wRC+'s of 120 and 113 in AA and AAA isn't 'amazing' in a bubble. Curious how much age impacts those results and looking for some comparable players to gauge accordingly.

Ignore that part, I worded that poorly, but yeah the fact that Bo will be 21 for the duration of the season is important. Those numbers are actually super impressive, the age is a huge consideration. Being an above average hitter in the minors when you're like 4-5 years younger than the average player is huge and makes a big difference for projecting future MLB success.

Here's a good, albeit slightly dated article from the Radio Scouts' blog predecessor that does some analysis on this, might be what you're looking for. You should use it as sort of a rule of thumb more than anything, it's obviously not perfect.

Bit of a long shot, but there’s some resemblance to Trevor Story.

Had spots of putting up crazy A/A+ numbers, struggled a tad in AA, then had a great AA season. Was decent in AAA, been terrific in MLB.

Bichette might have a more impressive overall minor league career.

Higher K% guy, not really an OBP type. Good bat to ball ability. Grown into his power, plays middle infield and can steal bases. Story is a better defender but Bichette is still young.

Didn't realize McKinney had a .886 OPS whilst walking as much as striking out in AAA (30 games).
