Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Lourdes Gurriel is slashing 366/409/707 in AAA. It would be nice to get a report on his D, not worried much about his bat, but he's played 2nd/SS and 3rd, I assume he's gotten past the yips. Wouldn't mind seeing them move him around in the OF as well.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Tigers have a sneaky rotation burgeoning. Casey Mize promoted to AA. In his first game there he hit the first opposing batter and then went on to throw a 98 pitch no-hitter He's gonna move quickly through the minors
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Tigers have a sneaky rotation burgeoning. Matt Manning is making his own case to be included in that top pitching prospect mix. Through four AA starts - 22.2IP 10H 32K 4BB 4R And obviously has the stuff and build to look the part.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 lol @ that K rate, pathetic. For a nice comp in Erie 2005 just before his major league call-up 32.1 IP 1 ER 7 BB 32 K 2005 Justin Verlander. I LOL that you LOL at a guy with 7 hits against in 35 innings, who has a 16-1 K-BB ratio because he has a 8.22 k/9 in the minors.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Frederick (Boston): What do you make of Cavan Biggio's start? Can you chalk it up to just a hot start or the new ball at AAA or is this a continued progression from last year. Does he have a chance to crack the top 100? Josh Norris: Second part first: We are meeting this afternoon (probably right after this chat) to discuss our next Top 100 update. Biggio, who is off to a smashing start, will obviously be in the discussion for entry into the list. First part second: This is going to be a battle we fight all year. We all anticipated the new baseball at Triple-A causing offensive explosions, but this is obscene, and it might get worse when the weather warms up in the East. If this change is permanent, power is going to become very difficult to project. I was discussing this last night with an evaluator and came to the conclusion that you should take whatever home run output you think the player might have, then add 10. Side note: I bet the offensive explosion offsets any gains in pace of play in the minor leagues.

"Evaluators" are cracking their old calculus textbooks open to try to figure out how to interpret AAA numbers, when wRC+ already f***ing exists. Biggio 2018: 145 wRC+ in AA Biggio 2019: 168 wRC+ so far He's off to a great start but it's not that hard to put it in context. It's also not other-wordly at this point. Fair to give him some helium but it's too early to say that he's the Jays' 4th best prospect or anything like that.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Anyway, Pearson should also be in the discussion of best pitching prospect. Mize is an advanced pitcher who should be killing it against minor league players that have never seen him before.

Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 I was too busy looking at Wander Franco's numbers. Holy s***, he might become a better prospect than Vlad was/is.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Hurl says Mize is going to be Verlander LOL actually it was Avila that made the comp by saying Mize is more advanced than Verlander at this point in his life. He actually said that his secondary pitches are more advanced but it's fun to throw this on someone else. I actually believe that Mize is going to be a number 1 and tried to pursue him in one of our leagues this off season.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Gurriel just went yard again. He's hitting .381 with 4 HR. Really think they need to put him in the outfield.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Best pitching prospect in baseball. I think Brownie19 just look the lead for poster of the year. My mom wouldn't even vote me Poster of the Year. I'm s***. I'm just happy you guys let me lurk here.

League average K rate in 2005 was 6.38/9, last season it was 8.53 K/9. Verlander was also coming off 86 IP at A+ with 104 strikeouts and 19 walks. Don't play this game with me Hurl.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 And right below him you have recently turned 18 year old Wander Franco with more walks than strikeouts and a .257 ISO. Ridiculous.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Why is he saying 3B though..? Is he saying that his bat is so strong that you need that production from 3B and not a SS or saying defensively he won't stick at SS..? Not sure why the 3rd base reference...

Hopefully im wrong, but he looks bad in most videos of him in AFL, ST. Also Process >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Results Gurribabip is not good at base

He's now 3-for-5 today with a homer and a double in the 2nd game of the day for the Bisons.
Blaine Bullard Dunedin Blue Jays - A OF In Thursday's doubleheader, the 19-year-old went 5-for-8. He was 3-for-5 with two doubles in the first game and 2-for-3 in the second game. Explore Blaine Bullard News >
