I like a few guys from JFTC (at least one posts here Shawn Doyle) but there is 1 that I can't stand anything they write. Overall they have realistic material and their podcast is live which is interesting.

What's his handle?

While we're at it, how do you personally know all these writers? There was also clutchlings that you seemed to know.

I thought it was Doyle or something like that. I know Cutchlings (Doug Fox) from a Minor League bloggers group I'm part of. Even though I never actually did anything with it, I like to keep my hands in the prospect writing scene. Little known fact I made a proposal to take over Project Prospect back in 2012, but Adam wanted to keep it around in case he changed his mind. I even got as far as approaching Jason Martinez about a partnership with Roster Resource.

The JFTC they just post their real names (or what I assume is their real names) and I read their blog, listen to some of their podcasts. You seem defensive...is it because I'm listening to other podcasts. No worries Radio Scouts is by far my fave.

Nate Pearson has pitched 1.2 innings above short-season ball, and was terrible in the AFL. But he threw 105 a few times!!!!!!! zomggggggggg

Overhyped not overperformer.

Same could be said of Roberto Osuna in 2014, and he became a lights out closer about 2 minutes after being bad and rusty in 20 Dunedin innings.

I enjoy debating whether a 6'6 RHP with a 105 mph fastball and double plus 95 mph slider is a good pitching prospect or not.

Can he throw them for strikes consistently?

It's that time of year again...Minor League Name Changes!!!! The Colorado Springs Skysox are now ...

A S'more as your mascot is amazing. Love the Vibes name, should sell really well.

I.....I don't get it.

It just has so many meanings...but being in Colorado and having a snack as a logo gives off a Stoner Vibe. I just love the name and look. It's fun, something baseball lacks at times.

You know damn well that would be a anthropomorphized cannabis leaf on fire if it was allowed. One can only dream

Slider has a very obviously lower release point. If I can tell then any pro hitter will be able to as well.

It's not nearly as obvious as you think. First of all you're getting a sample size of one and a look in slow motion to clearly discern the difference. Second and most importantly, at live speed it'd be extremely difficult to gauge the minimal difference in release point unless he was doing something else to tip the batter off, by the time your brain has processed the lower release point you won't have enough time to make use of that information. Even in slow motion it's difficult to tell where his release point is at. But again, sample size of one.

I wouldn't call a few inches obvious, plus that can be fixed, it's a ++ pitch.

Release points are harder to fix then you think.

During ST Josh DeGraaf was tipping his pitches with some variations of his windup. Luckily his parents/fiancé were at that game and I mentioned it to him. I also told SRF and J Harris who were charting that game, they both gave me the death stare when I mentioned it, hahah. When I saw JDG at Reading mid summer he fixed it!

But morale of the story is that NP is a work in progress, no one knows if he will put everything together.

Bwahahaha... holy f***, it just keeps getting more f***ed, you're a sick dude, man. Stick to your slo-pitch league stretch, lol.

Blue Jays betting on Biggio’s bloodlines, work ethic

https://www.tsn.ca/talent/blue-jays-betting-on-biggio-s-bloodlines-work-ethic-1.1214083

"After splitting his 2018 campaign between second base (65 starts), third base (34 starts), first base (22 starts) and right field (two starts), Biggio went to the recently-wrapped-up Arizona Fall League with a mandate to focus on his work in the outfield."

Hi Emily, did you get a chance to see Cavan Biggio? If so, what are his strengths and what still needs work?

@Jason L. I got to see some of Cavan and of course, you automatically go to comparing the second generation players to their dads. Cavan has really good instincts, but lacks consistent power and hasn't shown much speed, although he did take two bags in Arizona. I think his fall was encouraging and he should continue to progress, although his overall profile hasn't stood out as much as some.

How was Vlad Jr's defense and do you think he sticks at third long-term?

@Harrison R. He actually showed some of the sharpest plays defensively I've seen from him in a long time. Vladdy has really good instincts, but his frame makes it tougher to move with as much of a quick-twitch reflex as you'd like in an infielder. I think third makes the most sense for him. He's sharp enough to handle reads off the bat, has the arm for it and I don't see him transitioning anytime soon.

My Blue Jays just traded for Trent Thornton, he was a starter throughout his career so far but was a reliever in the afl this year. Did you see him at all in 2018? A scouting report I saw said "Three solid pitches, but lacks CH for rotation or true out pitch for leverage relief role. Fits as a low-leverage longman able to go multiple innings." - does this fit with what you saw? Do you see him as a starter long term?

@Matt S. I unfortunately didn't get to catch Trent in 2018, but previous viewings and speaking with scouts, I'd agree with that assessment and his ability to eat some innings.

@Emily W. That seems a really underwhelming return for 4 years of a decent middle infielder, no?
