I would think Vlad and Bo get promoted together again after the Futures Game. They have been moving together since Lansing. No reason to change that now. I mean people are saying Bo is having a rather pedestrian season compared to what hes doing last year and thats true. But he still leads the Eastern League in Hits and Stolen Bases.

Seems to make sense. We do have to make sure that our 20 shortstops are all playing SS everyday though.

Buck and Pat report that Vlad is taking BP and on a running program. Hopefully good news. I would love to be proven wrong about this.

 

I will say Troy Tulowitzki was also taking BP and on a running program starting a few weeks ago. I wonder how that is progressing.

He also has the same k/bb as last year. Probably a little positive luck last year, a little negative this year... plus he's two levels up with better defenses and pitching obviously.

And still 20 years old. There's literally zero reason for anyone to be concerned about Bichette's overall numbers this year.

 

There's some trends that make you think a bit, like how his pull rate has gone down each year and his opposite rate has gone up... thats probably a factor in his reduced power output.

Wonder how different the end of season blue jays top 30 prospects will look like.

Looks like other people are starting to see how over rated Anthony Alford is. He's starting to fall

down the top 30. Jays have got players more talented then him now in they system. And it's been five years now

not improving. Or time for new team.

 

You obviously have yet to grasp Alford's potential...he was playing football full time what 3 years ago. Guy has also been injured a bunch as well. His potential is still crazy...he just needs some consistent ABs the rest of the season

Alford is about as high risk/reward as a prospect gets

Guerrero (strained patella tendon) is "doing great" in his rehab and is ahead of schedule by a day or two, according to general manager Ross Atkins, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

 

Analysis:He last played on June 6 and was set to miss at least four weeks, so it sounds like he could return in early July if this timetable is accurate. Once healthy, Guerrero will likely be promoted to Triple-A in relatively short order, but this injury severely hurts his chances of reaching the majors this season

 

These are all positive signs. It sounds the re-evaluation could go great. I won't totally buy into it yet. The official re-evaluation isn't until July 8th, and until they announce he is on his way back North I won't get my hopes up... but the chatter is positive.

Sam Cavilgio has probably earned a pretty good shot. I haven't looked at his peripherals but he seems to pass the eye test.

From updated BA writeup on Bichette:

 

While the consensus earlier in his career was that he would probably end up playing second or third base, Bichette now looks like a true shortstop. He he has improved his agility, getting good reads off the bat with quick feet, good body control and he turns double plays well with an above-average arm.

My methodology was very good. I went to MILB.com and looked at all the short stops playing in the Jays system, and ranked them according to what I read on BJMB)

Good point. A lot of depth. 11 short stops who "stat scout" as legit prospects (stat scout also includes second hand accounts of real scouting reports).

I don't think he ever had a problem with consistency. At least not this year. Maybe last. The issue was he gave up 8 runs in an inning his first Buffalo start. I'm not sure he was really hit hard or anything, just one of those things. His ERA would be just hovering around 2-3 the whole time if it wasn't for the one start.

Still small sample sizes of course but those numbers aren't encouraging for success as a starter even as a 4 or 5

My list (w/ July 2 signings)

Most of them will not stick at shortstop. The bat first guys will move to 2B/3B (e.g. Hiraldo, Groshans). I don’t think Urena is deserving of a top 10 SS spot tbh.

 

I'm not sold on him yet as a starter, so far he's basically got by with 2 pitches (85% sinker/slider) and the 2nd and 3rd time through the order numbers are horrendous.

Sam would be a nice long relief option for next year.

Borucki, Reid-Foley, Zeuch, Harris, Romano should all eventually get a shot next year in the rotation, with hopefully a healthy Stroman and Sanchez. They need to bring in a vet to bridge the gap though.

after we trade Happ and Sanchez Foley should be in the rotation. He could really benefit getting a couple months in the majors to prepare himself for next year.
