I wouldn't come back if I were Happ, he would be in the same position every year as a Trade candidate unless they turn this thing around next year which seems unlikely.

Being traded to a contender sounds awful....

Doubtful they would bring him back and flip him again next summer. Summer of 2020 maybe if he's still pitching well and the Jays aren't pushing for a playoff spot. Jays are going to need the innings and he can provide them

So? Plenty of high schoolers start in the Appalachian League. He could've just as easily started there instead of the GCL. It's not a massive jump. Thus, a promo wouldn't be unheard of.

It's most likely some sort of injury though.

Please name at least 3 occasions when the Jays started a HS player out of the draft in the Appy league.

Plenty of good teams are going to need innings, what kind of incentive does he have to return to a bad team? The money is going to be similar anywhere.

Clinton Hollon (2013)

Is Groshans injured?

Not playing today, didn't play yesterday and was removed from June 25 game

He's just been sent for re-evaluation. No big deal.

There are also plenty of good starters available on the FA market. Plenty of these good teams will also be blowing their loads on Harper, Machado, Kershaw, etc. JA Happ would make sense even if he had spent his entire career elsewhere this offseason. The fact that he's spent parts of 6 years in Toronto, and experienced almost all of his success here should give them a leg up on the rest of the league, not the other way around.

Okay you got me there. I will add I think there might be a better chance because of his older age for a HS player.

He's also on record even before he came back he loves Toronto.

I agree that GCL is the standard go to starting point, but I only put it out there since he is an early pick...with a reportedly fairly advanced bat...so I take that to believe that maybe he will be ready for a bit of a challenge sooner than later. We'll see.

Angel Perdomo today: 5IP 5H 1BB 10K

Great outing for sure. Not really on the prospect radar anymore though since he's 24 in Advanced A, which he is repeating. His peripherals are much better this year

Maybe the Ryan Tepera route? He'll plod his way through the minors to become an effective reliever.

Jhon Solarte, Venezuelan switch hitter we signed last year for $10K is destroying the DSL through 20 games.

.354/.469/.456 14BB 13K 9SB playing CF

Probably best case scenario at this point yeah.

Is the Thomas Pannone suspension already over? What's with the rehab starts?

Rehabbing, his suspension is up in 9 games so probably one more rehab start and he'll be in AAA.

2:20 Eric, thanks for all the wonderful content you guys have been churning out! What's the deal with Josh James? I expected to see him on the midseason top 100, but no luck. How come guys like Paddack made such a huge leap, but not James?

Eric A Longenhagen

2:24 So, for background (and I'm gonna start giving more context on these guys in chat before I answer, and I'd love to know how you all feel about that in the comments) James is a 25 y/o JUCO righty at TRiple-A whose stuff has spiked each of the last three years. H'es missing a lot of bats. Velo and breaking ball, when it's located, are both great. Command and the way the breaking ball plays in the zone are not. Think he ends up in relief. We were too light on him going into the season but if you wanna group him in the 50 FV guys it'd have to bee with the huge stuff/relief risk guy on the list in the Touki/Abreu area, and we just think those guys have better stuff (three pitches or a 7, etc)

Barf. Couldn't they make him a pitcher or something? or did they try that?

He has to want to convert to pitching. Now he can go to university and find something else to do or try and catch on with another team.

Nice for Harris and SRF to have some short term success, but not too optimistic long term on them.

SRF is super inconsistent, when I saw him vs Tampa in March he opened the game with 10 straight balls.

Inconsistent sure, but loads of swimg and miss. His walk rate so far in AAA isn't actually that bad, all things considered.

SRF also has probably the worse anger management of any pitcher I can recall of in the last 10 years. Worse then Ricky Romero

Multiple times in that game I saw him in Tampa he spazzes out after walking batters or leaving hanging sliders that turned into hrs.

Lots of pitchers do, even great ones like Scherzer, I wouldn't hold that against him. Maybe he's a perfectionist?

ITT: Tercet’s 1 game sample size scouting report. Not optimistic on the future of SRF

Nevermind the fact hes been meh for the last 5 seasons, 1/2 of a good season, give him the Matt Moore contract.
