So, has there been any thought in the org about signing Dante Jr.? He just inked a deal w/ an independent team, but is he worth taking a risk on to see if we could develop something?

I’m actually a little surprised the Braves made this move now. Hes hit better over the last 7 days but you would think they would wait until he had some sustained success. I guess they have some pressure to put some asses in the seats. And the fan base was pissed he didn’t make the opening day roster.

Why not he's been killing it for years now, killed the AFL(MVP), killed it in ST, had a 2 week slump to start the year, kid's ready.

Acuna is overrated. He's going to K at like 25% with less power than the hype expects, and the SB won't be there.

 

Like, a 25% K rate is his current projection lol. If he can do that at 20 years old I think the Braves will feel pretty good about themselves.

No, not really.... They don't NEED him on this team right now. If Donaldson is done for the season, then maybe Vladdy shows up. But that's about the only reason where they NEED him

too early to bring the kid up anyway.... he could very well struggle against MLB pitching. let him get his MiLB seasoning and reduce the risk of having to send him back down after bringing him up. cup of coffee in Sept, sure

Been said about many prospects, and turned out to be wrong.

 

Jays are not going to bring up a franchise player unless they are sure he is ready. It would be good to see how Vladdy fares against AAA pitchers. AA pitchers don't necessarily have a multi pitch arsenal, command, or quality secondaries. A lot of AAA pitchers do.

Vlady isn't your everyday prospect and should not be grouped in with traditional prospects.

I get the ridiculous K and BB rate is unprecedented. But there have been plenty of so called can't miss prospects that missed.

 

All I am saying is there is risk in bringing up Vlad prior to September cup of coffee time. Not to mention starting the time clock early.

That is exactly what makes Vlad different from those failed prospects.

Not what I am saying. The risk is he gets called up early (and being called up before September would be early), struggles, and has to be sent back down. MLB pitching >>>> AA pitching.

 

I have no doubt he will be an elite MLB'er.
