Well Danny Jansen is officially an idiot.

In what might be his final AB and having a chance for the cycle, needing a double, he goes and hits a solo HR.

f***in' clown.

Hopefully this goes to extras so he can redeem himself

Wow.. His numbers are off the charts, coupled with the fact he has more walks than strikeouts and is only 22 years old. Interesting fact that Buck pointed out the other day regarding Jansen started to rake after an eyesight test revealed he needed glasses.

If Alford is on the team he should be the center fielder. Not a fan of moving someone to a corner just for Pillar's s***** bat and still good but declining D.

Jansen's AAA stint has been bananas.

12 G

8 BB

3 HR

4 2B

1 3B

1 K

Eight walks and one strikeout

does Vladdy impact on the JD offseason decision?

if Vladdy is proving to be adequate at 3B, would it not make sense to move JD for other assets, anticipating VGJ is the starting 3B in 2019?

Maybe? If, and this is a big if, they can convince JD to sign something similar to what Cespedes signed for, they should do it.

He could be a great mentor for Vlad and Bo once they come up, and his peripherals suggest he's not declining offensively just yet. K rate is up, but that's more due to the slow start with the helmet guard.

Vladdy Jr, will have zero impact on this choice, just saying.

I'd like to give Kacy Clemens some love on here since not many people talk about him. I've had the chance to see him live in Vancouver a couple times now, and I'll say that he never concedes an AB. Very smart hitter. I'm not saying he's Joey Votto, but that's sort of the vibe I get off him. Very smooth and effortless swing as well, and his pitch recognition and eye is off the charts. He can square up fastballs really well and doesn't get fooled by breaking stuff that easy. His AB's were one of the few that stuck out to me no matter what the result. Not extraordinary power, but the potential is definitely there in the future. Runs deceptively well for a guy his size and plays a good enough glove from what I've seen. I understand that as a 1B, his bat has to play exceptionally well for him to be considered an impact guy, but I'd definitely keep an eye out on him.

Cavan Biggio has also had a power surge out of nowhere. 11HR in Hi-A this season, although the K-rate issue is real. But it's cool to think that our potential infield of the future could be comprised of sons of prominent major leaguers

Vlad at 3B

Bo at SS

Biggio at 2B

Clemens at 1B

Biggio is least likely to stick as a regular, but could be a capable backup. Warmoth at short seems likely, and Bo to 2B.

Everything former too Biggio is absurd, sorry.

Thanks the sky wind and Sun, you aren't our GM.;)

what the jays offer JD as an extension will be influenced by vladdy being a little more than a year away

and if he declines he will be moved. shatkins won't risk losing JD for nothing

Alford's donger came off a rehabbing Matt Harvey, fwiw.

He extended his hit streak to 13 games.

Off the Dark Knight no less. Not that it's anything to get excited about these days, but Alford is good.

That should be well, noted.

Just saying, lol.

Yes, is this hard, meat?

I wouldn't move a potential superstar like Vladdy unless he agrees or asks to be moved. He's worked hard for 2-3 years at 3B.

But is he actually any good there?

Depends on how Vlad can handle the position. I wouldn't want him to be like Edwin was in Cincy or Cabrera was in Florida/Detroit, a defensive liability for many years. If he is better off at first or left or somewhere else, then move him there young. The bat is what makes him a top prospect, not the D.

So at 22 and coming back from shortened seasons to advance all the way to AAA, is Danny Jansen a lock to crack top 100 lists next spring or is he still flying under the radar?

He will absolutely not.

No.

What he's done this season has been terrific, but realistically I think everyone wants to see if this is just a really good season, or the beginning of a trend now that he's healthy and has glasses. If he continues this performance next season, people will start to take real and meaningful notice.

Any particular reason? One year not a big enough body of work?

I know he's not considered one of our top 10 prospects on most lists, but looking at the guys that are, I'd put him right up there with Hernandez, at least, after the season he has had. Granted, I have no idea what his D behind the plate looks like. Still, I've wondered if he can scrape his way onto a few lists or at least some honourable mentions.

Because this board is stat-scouting and fapping all over him, but it doesn't appear that anybody in the industry thinks he's that significant of a prospect.
