P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Anyone else notice that McGregory Contreras (I refuse to put the space in his name) is raking of late and is hitting .288/.344/.432 as an 18 year old heading into tonight's game in which he is 1-1 already? They skipped him straight over the GCL as well. Me!
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Vlad dong alert. Up to .322... OBP over .450 for Dunedin. Jesus. You can't MAKE a better hitting prospect than this guy. Also, I didn't notice that Eddy Olivares got promoted.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Jake Thomas pitched for Dunedin who are getting demolished 19-3 tonight

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 So this is what FTJ has done for the past two months in A ball as an 18-year old: http://i.imgur.com/9HK50d8.png It might be time to move him up. Promoted to AA, very aggressive... hope he tears the leather off the ball.

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Vladdy now slashing .336/.456/.492 as a f***ing 18 year old in A+. This is just stupid. This kid could be our Bryce Harper.

I wonder if he'll have any defensive value at all. Obviously getting years ahead of myself here, but that might separate his career from perennial All Star to Hall of Famer.

You know it's a pretty special prospect when the team asks the player what position he wants to play, and then just says "sure, you got it."

Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 That's actually what happened? Yep, although it's not like they promised he could play 3B forever. They wanted to make his transition to pro ball as comfortable as possible, and I guess they figured he could either hack it there or he'd play himself off it eventually.

I like developing prospects up the defensive spectrum anyway. It keeps them operating at the upper limits of their athleticism, and obviously the roster flexibility is good at the MLB level even if they can only sort of play the position
