Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted August 5, 2017 Posted August 5, 2017 Nate Pearson has an incredible fastball: A couple Warmoth AB's: Gurriel HR: By the way, that YouTube channel is incredible if you want to see little highlights of prospects. Highly recommend checking it out and subscribing. Pearson reminds me of Duane Ward

Not seeing a pitcher who is ready to be fast tracked to an mlb bullpen. He looks like he needs some work for sure
Ray Verified Member Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Jason Leblabijian seems to have fallen off a cliff. Now hitting .254/.324/.402 for the season. It wasn't long ago he was hitting .300.

He looks like he needs some work for sure When you throw 101 mph, your secondary stuff doesn't need to be pristine to be an effective pen arm. That said.... he did snap some nice sliders, but clearly needs work for consistency His change didn't have have much depth or fade, and they never mentioned how much separation not had from his fastball velo, but needs work for consistency. Think I saw 1 curveball there too, but it was way outside so that's probably just a show-me pitch right now. There was 0 hard contact... just slappy attempts to get a bat on it and really weak contact. That's nice to see. It's SS A ball, but that's what his results should be down there

Leblebijian has tailed off for sure but Roemon Fields has hit enough (.309/.366/.379 albeit with a huge BABIP spike) to maybe be interesting as a bench player with his ++ speed.

It would be sick if Fields could be Dyson 2.0.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 That arm action makes my elbow hurt... Why? Doesn't look that bad.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Why? Doesn't look that bad. Seems pretty whippey and not very effortless to me. He's already had TJ also. I admit though that any left handed throwing looks like it's more f***ed up than right hand throwing to me.

It's because you're a righty, I feel the same way every time I see a righty throw because I'm a lefty.

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 (edited) Borucki is like 5 degrees from being a sidearmer. I didn't know that. Maybe it's just that camera angle, or did he drop it down a bit this year? Edited August 8, 2017 by Laika

Laika Community Moderator Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 I don't think that his arm angle has changed very much from past years. Haven't watched video on him before so I'll take your word for it. It just seems to be below 3/4 standard which is what all the scouting reports say. Maybe just that game or just the video angle.

Vague terminology will result in differing scouting reports though.
