Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Gibby has said somewhere Hawkins was the third line of defence against lefties after Cecil and Loup. FYI...I sent you a counter on Fantrax.

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Gibby insisting he will not use Price, if there is a situation where a lefty is needed I better see freaking Price. This is must win territory.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Gibby has said somewhere Hawkins was the third line of defence against lefties after Cecil and Loup. Yikes. Mad respect for Latroy's career but that is not comforting.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Hah...I didn't look it up either, but have read about it a few times now, lol. Davidi/Davis and Elliott duped me. Edit: I sent you an offer on Fantrax. That's an interesting offer. I'd probably have to swing a side deal or two to make it work. I'll definitely give it some thought.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Wish Cecil could magically heal up. I'm not actually invested in the Trouba hate to be honest. If he causes too much of a disruption to the board, I'll ban him of course but on a personal level, I'm quite indifferent. What do you mean on a "personal level" I'm just concerned there will be a tight spot where a lefty is very much needed.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Hopefully Stroman is awesome, Hamels gives up a shot or two, and the whole Price thing is irrelevant and then he can start game 1 of the CS!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 I already countered your counter. I just countered your counter for a measely 5th. Bugger.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 What do you mean on a "personal level" I just mean that I have nothing personal against you. I'll ban you if you're causing a disruption to the board but you don't really bother me the way you seem to bother many others.
reedjohnsonfan Verified Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Line moved as predicted, but not by much. Jays at 1.54, Rangers 2.55. Trouba, hopefully you bet on the Rangers yesterday already.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Brendan Kennedy @BKennedyStar 2m2 minutes ago Gibby said he could use Osuna for more than one inning today. “They could all go more than inning if they had to." #BlueJays #Rangers #ALDS If I'm Gibby, nobody not named Sanchez or Osuna is pitching after the 6th inning.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 If I'm Gibby, nobody not named Sanchez or Osuna is pitching after the 6th inning. Hendriks has been more consistent and reliable than Sanchez this year so I put him in that grouping. His splits against LHH are not bad.

eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Has Osuna been THAT impressive in the playoffs? He got hit hard a few times but luckily they were line drives directly at guys. Sanchez has been noticeably impressive. I feel comfortable giving him 2 innings.
Trouba95 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Jonn, are you making the GDT?
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Estrada will pitch to Choo/Fielder if needed.
King Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Jonn, are you making the GDT? Derp.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 You don't let Sanchez face Choo or Fielder IMO. Sanchez has induced a K and a grounder from Choo already this series. He's only given up 1 base runner in 4 innings with 5 K's. He's your go-to guy in any situation when he's pitching like this. Edit: Choo is also 0-3 with a K in the regular season, making in 0-5 total.

So the entire concept of a meaningful sample size gets thrown out the window because it's the playoffs? Osuna has been nails all year and Sanchez isn't a good matchup against lefties.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Hawkins actually has good numbers against lefties for his career, along with Osuna. Better numbers against lefties than the rest of the guys in the pen (except Loup and Cecil obv)

Laika Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Basically, yeah. It's 100% what have you done for me lately. The point is that it shouldn't be. They tried to run Sanchez out there for multiple innings in the regular season and IIRC the results were not good, every time. IDGAF if he's faced 4 lefties and K'd all of them this series. Should be essentially a ROOGY or DP tool only in any one run game.

I'd give him an inning today if needed, R or L. I wouldn't bring him in with runners on, though, he hasn't fared well in those situations.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 14, 2015 Posted October 14, 2015 Sanchez career splits: RHB: .189 wOBA, 2.46 FIP LHB: .351 wOBA, 6.15 FIP fire Gibbons into the sun if Sanchez faces a lefty in a close game. Against Texas' lineup, that means ~2 batters maximum.
