There's no doubt that Cecil has been _the_ lights out guy coming out of the pen in the stretch. The problem with Cecil being the de-facto closer is that he is coming into the game in the 9th. What do we do when we have a lefty-lefty matchup before the 9th?

Use him for 2 innings if needed.

Yes, it made sense to rest them in the final two games in such bad conditions. However, they had so many players on the bench that they could have pinch hit with players such as Encaracion, Bautista, Martin, Smoak ... late in the games. The last game in Baltimore when most players were hung-over was unprofessional in my opinion.

I wouldn't have been opposed to this either. The second DH game unfortunately didn't really have a spot to do damage though. I didn't see a single pitch from the Thursday game so I can't really speak to that.

Despite what Gibby or AA says about trying to get the best record in AL (which both AA and Gibby have said), by them starting Papa/Hutch tomorrow, they clearly have other priorities. I don't want to debate the benefits/non-benefits of HFA/playing the wildcard winner. It's be debated ad nauseam here already and it's becoming a pissing contest. All I am saying is that Gibby and AA are just "saying the right things" to the media. It's clear by their actions that their priorities are somewhere else

... And this is not from a fantasy bozo

Yes - if the matchup is in the 8th; what if we need him before that?

If its a situation where you need a strikeout you use Cecil or Lowe.

I think with the way our pen has been going in general, there are options. Which option to use is not my biggest concern. It's Gibby and his sense of status-quo/loyalty - whatever you want to call it. Despite what's clear to us and backed up by some numbers quoted here, I am not convinced that Gibby sees that he needs to do something different with the "closer" role. This is despite the options that he has
