Wow cool - I never knew they release those videos. Do they do that with all reviews? That was an angle we did not see on the broadcast.

 

Yes, MLB posts all the videos as long as it wasn't ruled inconclusive.

 

Go on MLB video and search "definitive angle"

So many people said the Jays "got robbed" on that play (Buck saying it wasn't even close didn't help lol) but I never saw it. Every replay angle I saw I couldn't make out whether he got him or not. I had no issue with the call being upheld.

That video posted above was much better.

 

Buck sounded like such a clown saying how he wasn't even close to tagging him.

 

What an insanely close play.

Was his hand already on the plate though? Either way that view makes the decision look clear now. Not enough evidence to overturn.

 

If you pause it at 17 seconds you can see him tagged without the hand on the plate.

 

What a f***in terrible job by SN. Make it look like the Jays got robbed even though one of the replays showed the tag.

Was West out of position though? My initial reaction was that he hould have been positioned in front of the plate (but was too fat and lazy to move) but I don't know if that throw by Davis had anything to do with it...

I think its in sync. Just the angle makes his arm look closer to the ground than it actually is.

My eyes where telling me... why is Pillar is so far from the plate when you compare the left and right pics. Unless that's the curve ball illusion theory I was told about, back in the day. LOL

Looks in sync to me, I really think it's the angle we're seeing. It seems like every person's leg, feet, hands, are all in sync to me and a thick shadow under Pillar can make it seem like his chest is on the ground from a high angle.

I'm certain it's out of sync. here you can see Pillar's right hand placement. They look different.

It might be out of sync by a frame but it's still hard to tell. The left one is too blurry, it's quite possible his wrist/hand is actually down in the left image.

 

It's also possible they don't use this exact side by side video to make a judgement call but rather look at each angle independently to form a decision and this is what they put on the site.
